➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

my hubs found out tonight that I ordered ducks, he thinks I’m nuts. I’m excited!

. It’s just like filing your nails. I had to do it to some parrots I rescued not a chicken. You can use
A simple nail file or even a dremel but you have to be careful with power tools!

thats awesome, I bet more will develop. It’s amazing how quick they grow.
I am worried I won't be able to see much during the development.
Maybe I can erase the spots.

Someone did an experiment with using vinegar on them pre-incubation to remove the spots and it actually worked okay. I wouldn't do it now, though.

@Ursuline Chick & @KikisGirls we had a great time. Actually haven't even made it home bc we decided to do the Witte before we left today. That is a great museum btw if anyone is ever in San Antonio. My entire fam enjoyed it. We are so exhausted tho. We went non stop. Day 1- zoo, day 2- riverwalk, day 3- sea world, day 4- sea world aquatica, day 5- Witte. Our apartment was nice but parking wasn't great bc there wasn't always convenient access to the apartment from the parking space which meant more walking. The Rivera Apartments which is a separate entity owns the building and does have permanent residents there and they don't want to share the parking garage. Apparently this is one of the only Stay Alfred locations where parking garage passes are NOT permitted and I didn't realize that before, but other than that it was a beautiful, fully furnished and well kept place to stay downtown and was very close to plenty of things to do (like minutes from riverwalk, witte, zoo etc..). Anyway that's my little vacay rundown. I'm not even going to attempt to catch up but will ready along until I figure things out.. and... I'm done with my novel! @Ursuline Chick where are you going for vacay??? And @Tesumph how are the chicks? Do we have any for sure roo babies yet? @KikisGirls what's in the bator?

I am so glad you all have a great time!
:D
19 quail eggs and one fake chicken egg.

I'd use local eggs, in case shipping has already compromised egg integrity before the soak.
Of course. I am going to forever have quail eggs in my bator once the quailies grow up!

I am also planning on trying to hatch some next summer outside with no incubator!

I think some people over seas keep two or three house quails.
I think it is very common.
I don't think the Ginger would even notice a small cage with two itty bitty quails.
I bet your rat stuff would work.
Oh geez. Do you think a tall multi-level cage would work? I thought they needed longer open areas, like guinea pigs.
Are they very dusty?
