➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

What the heck is coop n compost? I’ve got plenty of sweet tea, does that count?

:lau Compost tea is the runoff of the beneficial bacteria gathered from
compost runoff after its watered. (Disclaimer that is my own definition so
I could be wrong but
It's basically like live culture yogurt for your compost or garden) your giving it's gut a healthy shot (not what I originally typed)of healthy bacteria.

Milk!:lau Stap! Poor mil! As long as you keep oxygen flowing into your hay and sunlight you have nothing to worry about. That basically means turn it. Adding composting material is really a matter of preference.

She would get a kick out of that, I can’t believe she’s not already a member of this site honestly.
Good thing I just bought a new pitchfork for turning hay. So much for a low maintenance build, hm.

I love good in laws! They are hard to come by! Once you get your deep litter started with healthy bacteria it will become easier. I think hay may just be a bit harder to start with bc of its structure. I'm far from an expert but I'm still utilizing deep
Litter method in my run and it's basically maintenance free once you get the breakdown started. I just toss out some scratch or leftover fruits and veg all over the run and the girls basically turn it themselves.

The sassiness! Bc she's being ignored! :lauI love my little pek!

Oooo not just the eggs, the bird is so cool too! I wonder if they can be domesticated.
They can but they require a specific environment. Most people who keep them have to make a indoor heated aviary because they don't like wet muddy soil and can't take the cold at all. They are a bit flighty but can be trained. Most of the ones available in the U.S. are the Chilean variety.
Here's a BYC thread about them.
