My grandma made the best crawfish bisque I have ever eaten, in 61 years I have never found a crawfish bisque that tasted like grandma's.

I also miss having the job of wacking crabs on the head with a long handled spoon and back into the purge bin before a crab boil. That was always my job as a kid when Grandma was boiling crabs.

I find your grandma especially endearing now! Did she kill them first to be as humane as possible? Don't most people just boil them alive or is that only crawfish and lobster?

Yeah, they got boiled alive, like most shellfish, but everything had to be purged in a saltwater mixture before boiling so the poo was removed before they were cooked.

Actually, I just told him for the first time that I refer to him as “the Ginger” to my chicken friends. He was playing a video game and took about 15 seconds for it to register before he mumbled “the Ginger... WHAT!” and burst out laughing.
