View media item 7891965I was thinking about running to get another one if these things this morning but I changed my mind. I still have time...I think.Here are some tips from experience...I hatched 150 baby quail over the time I had my Coturnix.
Your brooder needs a cover. Even taking them out of the hatcher, those bit ties are fast.
Pay attention to the water container. Most of the quail babies I lost were from getting wet and then chilled. They begin running and bouncing around very quickly. They would bounce into the little water trough around the chick waterer. I solved most of the problem by filling the trough with clean pea gravel (fish tank gravel).
Quail skin is very fragile, tears easily so no wire screen.
A couple of feather dusters tied together and hing into the brooder make a good substitute for a mom.
