I'm wondering if my dog is going to get hungry in the middle of the night now.
Wow that's a nightmare maker

I am just kidding.

Horrific. I wish I could un-read that. That poor lady.Dogs are no different, especially feral dogs. They're so dangerous when desperate. There was a little old lady who lived alone in a town near me. She fell going into her home and no one knew. A pack of feral strays found her and began eating her from the feet up. It doesn't get more horrific than that. They found her something like the next day with almost all the meat removed below her knees. She ended up dying on the table in the OR from I believe shock. It is one of the saddest stories I've ever heard and it makes my heart ache to think about the horror she went through.

I have one in I promise. Please tell me you have a calibrated thermometer in it.
Please.
If not I'll take a fib.
Yes. Now I will be able to sleep tonight.I have one in I promise.I needed it in there for the humidity gauge anyways
You are definitely getting close! It probably wouldn’t hurt to go ahead and put it out.Evening everyone. I think I am finally caught up.
So sry about the chick losses and puppy scares.![]()
Yay to the new incubators and hatching projects!
Awww to the newly hatched! Welcome to the world little ones.
Those itty bitties (Kiki's quails) are just so cute I can't even stand it! Love all the pictures.
And a house moved with unlimited potential to become a forever home. I am so jealous! That is just awesome and am so happy for you!
I know this is super simplified and I hope I am not leaving out too much. One of my duckie babies is having footsie trouble! I just noticed it today. I was beating myself up about it earlier. I don't have a clue as to why I didn't notice it before now. And of course, now that I posted a question about it, I finally calm down and reason out what the heck is probably going on and feel stupid for even posting. This is how my brain works.I have the ducks and chickens all on Flock Raiser. Which is supposed to have appropriate niacin requirements in it as is. Just to be on the safe side, we add a tbsp of brewer's yeast in their food that they eat, figure better safe than sry. Add to all of that, we put some of that liquid b vitamin (durvet) stuff from tsc in their water that they drink throughout the day. Tackling it from 3 dif angles right? Everything should be a-okay, right? WRONG! Well, for 5 of the ducks it's great. 1 duck has inward turned feet.
I guess we're going to try and do individual dosage just to him and see if it helps. He's eating and drinking and pooping everywhere. Walking and swimming and tries to run with the others. Seems to be a happy little duck. Just has a little more pronounced waddle. Poor thing, I'm gonna have to name him Forrest. In other exciting news, I had a pullet bawk bawk bawk ba-KAW, bawk bawk bawk ba-KAW! like 4 or 5 times today while I was outside with the ducks. Startled me cause I've never heard it before. I'm like, holy crap, is that the egg song?!?
I went to go check the coop area, where she was at, and inside and the nest boxes. Nothing tho. I think she was practicing! Should be any time now! I'm excited!
And a couple are starting to pause/squat when I try to touch their backsides. We picked up some oyster shell tonight and might start putting it out for the girls tomorrow. They are 18 weeks old. Should be ok and not too soon right?

Eeeeeeee!I am so excited. I knew they were getting close. All of them are all red combs, face and waddles. I've had one girl have a day of pacing and fussing up a storm. Just being pissy it seemed, since the next day she was fine. Then that ba-kaw'ing out of the blue today. I already have the ceramic eggs in the nest boxes. I am hoping they help to guide them but just in case I've been walking their area and making sure there aren't any surprises in the grass, which I figure is a good possibility for first timers.
As far as the foot thing I have no idea.![]()
I am too! Today’s been stressful enough alreadyThat's ok. I am pretty convinced it's a niacin issue, I just don't understand "why", cause my brain wants to know what I am doing wrong. I think some times you can do everything right and still stuff happens. Oh well. It happens. I am sure he will be fine and I was just being a worry wart (that happens sometimes too).
