Tes, in some parts of the world And houses that are very old were built with a pier and beam foundations instead of slabs. With pier and beam there are beams that run the length or width of the home that the interior floor joists are all run across. This is what allows them to pick up the whole structure or sometimes they even cut them in half.
I believe pier and beam is a more structurally sound way to build, especially with the clay soils of Texas. I have 96 piers going down 30’ to bedrock under my house.
Sprouting horn too! The whole of Cape Perpetua is pretty incredible. If you ever go to Oregon, it is a neat spot. Yachats is an itty bitty town with not a lot happening, but the beaches are incredible and the rock formations are a sight to behold.
