I've always wanted some of those little rainbow birds in bright colours that I see at pet stores.

My pet store is good, I like it. No dogs, no cats, and the rabbits/guinea pigs/birds are VERY well cared for. Impeccable cages with plenty of enrichment, companionship, and appropriate vet care when ill. The employees care for them like their own, and I know of at least one parrot that isn't for sale anymore, they're keeping it. The fish tanks always look cleaner than my own drinking water.

That sounds amazing. Is it local or a big chain store? I wish we had one like that here, I’d be working there already.

Our reptile store is similar, absolutely incredibly owner and they’re all experts in the field. I would love to work there, but it’s a mostly male environment and there’s some strange customers, so..

No, it's just a small local one. I really like it. I mean, sure, rescues are better, but I've never seen a sick animal, and their pens are frankly enviable. Especially the parakeet one. I feel bad buying from there for the sole reason that they look so much happier there with their dozens of buddies and spacious cage.

Probably, yea. You might be able to scrape by but what’s the point?
If I ever get an indoor bird (which I won’t anytime soon.. too dusty and messy and loud) I’m just gonna get a flight cage from the start.
