➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I've got a whole mess of Cayugas. They're great layers (laid through their first Winter without any light) but man, are they LOUD. They are also skittish and a little bit like a gang. My quietest duck is a toss up between my Magpie hen or my Welshie.
Only had one of my Cayuga hens go broody in the five years of having them.
Ours aren’t skittish unless they’re being screaming broody dumbos, in which leads them to run around the yard all fluffy and screeching. When we can get them to not be broody, they’re great layers but oh my goodness they are so LOUD. They made our rooster trio seem quiet!

I went to collect eggs today. Only 3 instead of 4. I noticed something interesting tho. I was cleaning out the poo and refreshing their bedding and I noticed a spot in the shavings that looked all yellowish/orangish. It wasn't any type of loose stool that I've ever seen. The only thing I can think of is that it looked like a yoke busted. I didn't see nor could find any shell. I am wondering if I had a pullet lay a soft shelled egg again only that it busted or something. I wish I would have gotten a pic of it but I didn't. I got 3 decent eggs and an itty bitty egg yesterday. The soft shelled egg was the day before. Maybe it's the same pullet that laid the soft shelled egg the other day? I guess it could be a dif one but I doubt it. I did try to check a few of the girls behinds but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. She sure is having a rough time getting her body to work right. Poor thing!
