➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Afternoon everyone! I did a post yesterday in the duck forum about my Pekin. I have watched countless youtube videos of various ducks quacking in trying to figure out the gender of mine. Out of the 6 of my ducks, I thought for sure that I had 2 females and 4 males which of course is not a good thing. Now I am second guessing myself. I have no doubt that the little domesticated Mallard, Luna, is female. I have no doubt that I have one of each between my Rouens, Xena is female and Noah is male. The Pekins are so difficult because they all look the same to me. One isn't obviously larger or smaller than the others so I can't go by size. Male Pekin's feathers don't change in color like other ducks do. So I can't go by looks. The only thing that is different is if they get a drake curl. So there is that. They've all gone through their moult. Noah (Rouen) and Gomer (Pekin) have gotten in their drake curl. Goober and Forrest haven't though which has me going hmmmmm. Going by sound... I just don't know. That's how I sexed them before and who knows, I may have been wrong on 2 of them (which is kinda making me excited but I'm trying not to be too hopeful). So many people say, "oh how loud the females are" but they all just don't sound loud to me. Except Luna. Luna is LOUD. Like ridiculously loud. Like you can hear her all the way across the yard loud. The others? Nope. Not even Xena who I know is female. Take a look at this video and let me know what you hear (Besides Luna that is. She doesn't like to be quiet at all but you can tell her quack and grunt from the others). For the longest time I thought I was hearing raspy. Now I just don't know. Opinions plz?

They all (Pekins) sound raspy to me. :idunno Our Cayugas were quacking by 5 weeks, my uncle’s Pekin hen was quacking by that age too. Have you noticed any mounting?

That is why I am so confused! :he
They are 13 weeks old. So 3 months. No mounting yet but I am seeing some signs of trying (?) for lack of a better term. Yesterday, after I filled up their pool, I was watching them and I saw Noah (Rouen) trying to catch little Luna by biting her neck. He'd get a hold of her and nibble a little and try to swim behind her but she'd just swim away. I am assuming that was a sign of trying to get frisky? I've never had ducks before. This is all new to me. I also saw a Pekin trying to put its neck over Xena to like hold her in place and it looked like he (I'm assuming) trying to get behind her. But I don't know which Pekin it was. :barnie I'm assuming, again just an assumption, it was Gomer. The one that is an obvious drake. But I can't say for sure. I just don't want my poor girls to get gang banged and hurt or drowned or whatever other awful things can happen so those signs are what prompted me to try and figure this out. I'm running out of time before hormonal instincts kick in with full force. :rant I just don't want to cull a female thinking it was a male. :hit Know what I mean?

Our females mount each other so I mean it’s not a full proof thing.
