TESSIE!!!!!!

:woot:wee:ya

I think the cold is coming again tomorrow!
You ready?

You getting any eggs yet?
I’m SO ready for the cold. Screw this 87 degree weather.
No eggs yet. I actually just realized I might miss my first egg this winter..
You’re alive!!!! I’ve been worried about you Tes. :hugs
Yes I am! Still kicking, better than ever actually. :D

I wrote M-G and asked them for a non medicated 22-26% quail food. I need to check Texas Naturals and see what they offer. Local feed store. I'm concerned about feed going bad before the quails eat 50#.

Did they respond yet?
I am liking the Bryant game bird feed for now.

My note to M-G:
I am looking for a non medicated Quail food at 22-26% protein. Your turkey (#19) and quail (#33) starters are medicated. The chick grower feed (#14) is 18% protein as is your Game Bird Layer Granules (#37). What do you recommend for a non medicated 22-26% balanced quail feed?

Appreciate your 18% chick grower granules (#14). I am using it as an all flock and it works great.

The option to use your concentrate (#18) was considered, but as a small consumer, it would go bad before consumed. Ideally, I'll feed the quail and supplement the chicken diet to consume a bag in 6 weeks. The research I've done suggests that the quail need more than 18%. If you have data saying other, please share. The quail will be for meat and eggs.

From M-G:
Thanks for your interest in MG Feed, I am looking into this and may have an option for you that will be a higher protein. Having a higher than 18% protein would be beneficial. I will have more info this afternoon to share with you that may be what you are looking for.

Comments:
Nothing more this afternoon. So this shows promise. If M-G comes out with a non-medicated >22% protein feed, I'll be happy with a moderate protein, game bird feed. If the supplements are close, could I switch this over for the chickens as an all flock also? Something to consider. I wonder if they will be able to market this and get this as a regular offering. I wonder what the economics of animal feeds are.

Be sure to find out the lysine, methionine and cystine levels because they are every bit as important as the protein level.
