➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

You going to let the ladies do their thing this time? Take the worry out of it?
So my black bibbed hen Daphne went very broody, had a clutch of eggs in the brush. After nearly getting chopped into pate in the lawn mower, I moved her into the coop, where she proceeded to brood her 7 eggs for nearly 2 weeks, and expelling enormous putrid ducky poos until I nearly threw up. Then, she escaped her separated nest and the eggs grew cold, and every single one died. I autopsied the group, saddened to see all my dead little ducklings 12 days or more along. It was rotten and disgusting, and I think I actually threw up that time it was so awful.
Ive never successfully hatched Calls, just ordered them from Purely Poultry. Doesn’t mean I won’t try again though!!

Oh, bummer! The gal I got mine from had a whole mess of hens broody in her garden. They all hatched. There were tons of them all over the place. I'm hoping I can just let my little lady do her thing.

It was heartbreaking to lose all those baby ducks. But even worse was the time a member of my family took 2 full term D’uccle Eggs that would hatch within 48 hours, and put them in the fridge. I didn’t know it until much too late
My favorite way to hatch ducklings is under a broody chicken. I plan on hatching quite a few this year. May as well seeing as I have five bantam cochins that won't stop sitting. May as well use them!

OH yeah!!! Chickens are a lot more dependable and I do have several ladies who tend to get broody, including a Cochin, so :fl

Hi :frow

Mr. Puck had to have 2 more teeth pulled today. They shifted or something after the other tooth was pulled. He's starting to get his big boy teeth, and where the baby canine was pulled seems to be growing in ok. I've got a dental ball toy for him now to help keep his grownup teeth in place.

He weighs a whooping 28.2 kg, which translates to 62 pounds! He's only 5 months old! The worst is, he still won't climb or jump into the truck, so I have to pick him up :barnie

Here's what's been done in the last day and a half
