➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

You worry because you care.

I was thinking about that. My front yard isn't fenced in so I guess I am just paranoid about me not being able to round them back up to go back in their area. It sounds silly even as I type it but I am. I could probably get Noah to come back in, especially if I grabbed some peas for him. But Annabelle is so skittish. She won't eat from my hand. She won't eat peas. She won't touch mealworms. I even tried to tempt her with a little bit of tunafish. Pfft! I sure hope that she figures out that I'm not going to hurt her. I am thinking that putting them on the chicken side wouldn't be a bad idea. I may try that tomorrow and see how they interact.
Thank you.

Yes definitely put them in a different area. It may help him realize it’s just a hen to add to his harem. Rowdy boys are no fun!

I know drakes can be extremely territorial so I figured it’d be worth a shot. I’ve never dealt with a drake (and I really don’t have any desire for one) so I’m just taking shots in the dark.

Speaking of ducks. Our Cayuga hen is a little hussy. She keeps laying down for our 10 week old gosling and ducklings. The gosling is like “oh sweet!!!” So he(I’m guessing idk) gets up on her, usually backwards and tries to drown her. The ducklings are like “????Rip out your feathers?????”
What a little skank!

Thank you.

I agree! And as much as I love him and I love the way he will greet me and chatter and bob his head to ME..... If he does anything to hurt Annabelle I am going to be downright ticked! So I am going to do what I can to prevent it.
Side note:
Elvis decided to be a little stinker and come up behind me and peck me on the back of my leg. So I turn around and see him and go oh heck naw! I walked up to him and he thought he wasn't going to move out of my way and instead make me move around him. He learned real quick I don't play that game and I made sure he moved out of MY way. Sometimes I go out of my way to walk thru him, making him move. He doesn't come up behind me anymore. The snot!

Negan would do that to me. Even scratched me before. I now purposely try to walk on and through him. Guess who leaves me alone now? :gig

Is pecking aggression? My hens always do that and I usually shoo them away or tell them to stop but it really doesn’t work. It’s not always or even usually the back, sometimes its the front, or a shoe or whatever. I think sometimes they are just curious or think the pattern is just food or a bug or something but it gets annoying but idk how to make them stop. They do usually move out of my way and they stop for me but they do peck my dad too and he doesn’t like going in there. They are big on the pecking

Context is everything in a situation like that. Often if I am sitting in a chair in their area, they will come around me and peck at my shoes and my pant legs. If I just get done cleaning out the big coop I will often have pine shavings on my pants or coat or whatever. They love to peck them off of me. But it is not in a context of being aggressive. It's more like, grooming or curiosity. The time that i was talking about with Elvis was that he literally ran to catch up to me and pecked my leg from behind. The context is different than a social interaction. Sry that I wasn't more clear.

That’s okay!! I figured the thing with Elvis was a specific, aggressive action and a different circumstance but I wasn’t sure. Mine basically do what you describe. Annoying sometimes but not aggressive.

Thunder is turning out nicely. Lacing is good, but I need to work on the feet and that weird whiteness around her face. The comb needs cleaned up too.
