➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Although who’s eggs are these? Don’t they want them for eating or something? Lol
They were stolen by Mex in the middle of the night fair and square. :p

Free ranging chickens at the horse barn. Apparently they are feral chickens roaming the suburbs of Houston. Getting ready for the zombie apocalypse. :lau

Chickens at the horse barn clean up the spilled grain and eat fly maggots to help keep the fly issue at bay. I think all horses should have chickens.:old

No. They are wild, probably abandoned or lost chickens that visit the horse barn on occasion. I haven't seen any birds for a while now but they are still visiting. The three eggs were laid up high above my horse's stall so technically these are really my eggs this time. :D

They were not there, in my hay, the day before so they are freshly laid eggs. Mex did not see any chickens while he was there yesterday.

You should build a nest box and put ceramic eggs to lure them back and get a whole collection of feral, anti-zombie chickens.

I think the other Mexes find and steal eggs too. But I think they just eat them.

Birthday boy.

Wild ducks and geese cover their eggs with debris like leaves and twigs to camoflage their nest. You have to look for them in areas under tall grasses, bushes, fallen limbs. Not all will lay their eggs near the water...those are usually ooopsies. Carry a cane or stick with you when you walk there. The geese will leave you alone.

Our Canadian goose pair is back again. They already tell us their feed tire is empty. Lucy and Goosey have been with us for nearly 20 years. Several times their nest has been raided by coyotes. Hoping they have a good clutch this year...only one gosling last year. Did you know geese mate for life?

Yes, this pair has been here since we bought the property but their first nest was 3 years ago. It was unsuccessful due to the location. The last two years they have had successful clutch of 7 babies each year after figuring out the island is the right place for their nest. It is awesome to watch mom build the nest then diligently sitting!

The eggs I have to wander the banks of the pond for are my domestic pekin eggs. They started always laying in the water but have slowly started laying some on land. I'm hoping I can find enough laid on land before the crows or other critters break them.

Maybe the Easter horse is leaving you colored eggs!
