@sphillips - time to water the grass, eh? Mighty fine looking bean too!

I was buzzed by Eastern Bluebirds while walking the chickens this evening. 3 eggs in the nest box!!! Can't wait. I got a broody! @Ursuline Chick I got a broody!

See if I can get a better picture later this week. The Bluebirds were up on the high wire and look like little dots. Nest box in the lower left on the fence post.

Here in Southern NM its BYOG. Bring your own grass.

I wondered how you sex ducklings? Vent like chicks? (I do know males have a penis unlike most birds. Well a visible one)
Yes, you can check baby ducklings and goslings for a corkscrew shaped penis...but not when they are first hatched. You wouldn't want to cause any damage. The females are loud quackers and the males have a softer sound. Best to wait for the curled drake feathers.

Love our Bluebirds, barn swallows, Cardinals and Purple Martins. We even have a wild pair of Canadian Geese that return every year to the farm to raise a clutch of goslings.

Anyone here ever think about using one if these fridges as a dual Hatcher and Incubator?
I'm thinking the left side ( smaller) would be great for hatching, and right side for incubator. The right side is bigger and gives more room for a big turning rack and motor.
Sadly had no luck finding another chest freezer. The family friend scrapped it. Said he was sorry he thought he could take it since it was outside.
