➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I think I would be ok with asking him to put me in touch with the distributor.
Good idea.
I think I was suppose to be asking him who this distributor was already but forgot.
:thumbsup

I don't know if it would be cheating though.
If I were to go straight to the distributor and IF they were even to sell me a few eggs that might be cheating.
I need to buy balut eggs from a grocery type store to hatch for this experiment.

Ps...Aliens are cool now.;)

I feel in the name of the experiment this may be cheating because then you would pretty much be buying hatching eggs direct from breeder. If that's the case, why not get hatching eggs from anywhere. I feel like this is about eggs off the shelf at the grocery store and if they are viable, like when people try and incubate Trader Joe's eggs.

I have to agree.

No, the Marans are not NIPP. But, of course, neither is my flock.

Sadly, I can't set 24. I can't even really set 12, as I only want to add 3 or 4 new hens. I have more room, but I need to leave some space for new one's next year, and so forth.

It's weird, I'm totally fine with culling and eating extra roos, but I've never been able to do that with extra hens. But, if I set 12, I'm sure I can find takers for a couple extra Marans hens, if needed.
@Morrigan I hear that heritage birds are bringing good money in silicon valley, don't know how far away you are from there, but it could be worth the ride if you have buyers for your extras. Just a thought.

Guys...NPIP isn't anything special IMO...in Texas it basically means your flock is negative for PT which hadn't even been in Texas for decades. I could go on and on and ON about everything NPIP but I am on my phone and can't type fast enough.
Thanks, that is really good info, here I thought that means the chickens are healthier! LOL :lau Love when you can learn something new everyday! :th

It is a good place to sell extras. It is too far from Woodland though

It's about 3 hours away. I see there is tons of advertised birds on CL SF bay area. It would be easy to undercut their prices and off load them there, but, eh, not sure I want the hassle. I have some friends who are usually up for taking on a couple of extra birds.
