Sharks and Jellyfish are why I am terrified of the ocean.
I would love to go on a very sturdy and safe boat to see the ocean and whale watch some day. I've never been to any ocean before. None of 'em. So it's on my bucket list. But jellyfish and sharks just...UGH! :th:oops:
But you drive? On roads and (gasp) highways and stuff? Because, seriously, that is a much riskier activity than going swimming in the ocean.

I have one kid who was stung by a detached jellyfish tentacle in FL. The reaction was about equal to what most people get from a wasp sting. I Googled and decided to scrape his arm with a credit card, apply some ice, and give him a Benadryl. All evidence he'd been stung was gone within the hour, we didn't even need to seek medical attention.

I have yet to even see a shark outside an aquarium and I've gone snorkeling a number of times as well as doing plenty of ocean swimming. We were on a catamaran adventure where the guys working the snorkeling perimeter were armed with spear guns. They took us where the action is and we got to see rays and sea turtles and such. No sharks sighted by anyone. The ocean is huge and sharks aren't that numerous.

I’m scared of the ocean, but it’s taken me a long time to admit that.
Not because of sea creatures; I love ocean animals.
I just hate the ocean. And boats. And salt. And sand... it’s course and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.

Hubby has his rescue diver license and absolutely loves diving, but he would have to drag me kicking and screaming to get me to go with him.
Thankfully my MIL also loves diving and my FIL can’t stand the ocean, so we have our buddy system ready to go for future vacations.

I didn’t say it was rational.... but it’s still there. Lol. I will watch nature shows and I appreciate the power, survival instinct and beauty of their species as well as the underwater world. I love learning about them. But at a distance. I’ll visit some day but I doubt I’d ever go scuba diving in my life. I might be able to muster up the courage for snorkeling some day. But that’s a big might.

I have a 10 gallon tank with a betta, a 20 gallon tank with some fancy goldfish, a 40 gallon tank with some more goldfish, a small tank with an old long fin black skirt tetra, a 40 gallon with a Frontosa, a 40 gallon with a male Venustus that killed his tankmates, a 40 gallon with a short body Flowerhorn, a 55 gallon with 3 male Electric Blue Haps, and a 1500 gallon pond with lots of goldfish and some koi.
Pictures if each tank please.

Lmao. I take it you’ve never seen The Conjuring, then?

Lmao nope!! And don’t plan to :lau

I’m even scared of The Ring and Signs when I saw them as a kid. :lau

My brother was watching them with friends and with The Ring I think I snuck down, didn’t know what they were watching, tried to watch it from the stairs, but then when it got to the part with the girl with the hair when she turned around, I ran upstairs screaming and crying for my mom :lau :gig :lau

Then one time I tried to watch Signs with them. When it got to the thing with the alien fingers showing or moving or whatever, I ran and hid behind the couch :lau still tried to keep watching from behind the couch though :lau

Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh..... I’m a baby :lau

I think my friend made me watch the one with the worms too or maybe silence of the lambs and I was terrified the whole time lol I think it was the worm one.

You should do it! Oceans are awesome and whale watches are so much fun!! But yeah I’m scared of those too lol

 :th :hugs Nope, nope, nope and nope! Kill it! Kill it! Kill it!

X2 lol

Omgosh that was the longest video ever! I know because I watched the whole damn thing! :th The very end with the boxer and the grasshopper made me chuckle out loud. Dogs are so cute! :love

Yeah it was crazy long! Lol they all are. They have a ton of others for tons of different breeds too. I watched one of the Golden ones too. :love

And I loved that one too!! They really are!! LOL

This is the other one I watched. So adorable. :hit :love I watched this one first then found the Boxer one for Kiki. :lau

Happy labor day everyone or as i prefer the unofficial end of summer. Ill be getting ready to do a lil shrimp boil here shortly

I’m not ready for it to be the end of summer already. :hit

Hmmm, that’s very true! But they are definitely concentrated more in some areas and they are very concentrated here due to all the seals and the breeding/pupping grounds off Long Island. So maybe shark attacks or even sightings are pretty rare in general or less common in other areas but here there’s literally like hundreds of sightings every week and many every day haha

Usually right off the beaches too.

So @CrazyCrttr75 oceans themselves aren’t particularly dangerous but just don’t go swimming on Cape Cod/the south shore :lau

I’ll gladly take you on a whale watch if you’re ever up here though :lau the whale watching here is awesome! LOL

I hate beaches and the ocean for the same reason!! LOL absolutely hate sand and then when you swim you get all salty and disgusting and it’s gross so I’m actually glad I can’t swim here anymore :lau

And that is a perfect buddy system! LOL

I am the same way!! Haha I went snorkeling a couple times in the Bahamas but never way out or on a cruise or anything, just on the beach haha it was fun but I couldn’t get the snorkel quite right :lau

I don’t think I could ever go scuba diving. I’m not really scared to and I actually think it’d be kinda fun and stuff but just with the OCD or anxiety or whatever, I just know I would like obsess over the mask or try to adjust it or worry it wasn’t fitting right or worry/freak out that I couldn’t breathe or whatever even if I could haha

I skimmed it.
Cute babies. I can't waste 10 minutes on a video Kdog.

Yeah I know, sorry, figured, haha realized that after. :lau  it is definitely crazy long aha I do wish their videos were shorter. They have a ton with tons of different breeds and stuff and they’re all crazy long haha but I didn’t really realize that at the time :lau

Anyway, I mostly just shared it cause I had just watched a Golden one and couldn’t leave Boxers out :lau

Anyway, yeah, figured you’d think they were cute :D

Also..... side note.... I honestly had no idea Boxers were so freaking cute or goofy and now I kinda want one :lau

Still don’t think they’re the right breed for me though so I doubt I ever will but man are they cute :love

Although.... they seem very vocal from that video haha

Sorry, rambling again.

If not, oh well! Fears are rarely rational. Besides, you can see all sorts of beautiful things in this world without being on the ocean.
That said, I'm in Washington. I swim in shark water all the time. Our sharks are just not usually great whites. I love the salt and rock formations. I have stuck my arm through many a jellyfish. Luckily, nothing here is all too horrifying in the poison/deadly sense.
I really love cave formations and would love to go underwater cave diving, but I'm a bit claustrophobic, so I know that'll just never happen. I'll enjoy the lovely cave specials on television for a fix, thank you!
