That’s what I always wonder.
They sell “complete” bearded dragon diets too, but I would never feed that crap to IV in a million years.

If I did have a crestie, I would probably feed it the highest quality goop I could find along with gut loaded crickets.
I’d feel weird depending only on a goop to be a complete diet.

Some of the rescues I follow on social use repashy for animals in really poor condition. So I know it is a quality product, but probably not necessary for healthy animals of most species. A varied diet of fresh food seems better. But maybe people have just had poor luck trying to recreate crestie diets in captivity??? The sap and nectar seem like they could potentially be a challenge.

But yeah, I would still feel like I was copping out if I only fed my pet smoothies.

No I agree is seems weird to just feed an animal only goop. Like putting them on a liquid diet.

Yeah for beardies it’s probably not necessary and they’d probably be so bored and sad but seems like it’s good for geckos haha

And yeah I’m sure that’s probably it!! Those are challenging to recreate for sure.

totally understandable!! It does seem odd but seems like there’d be tons of cresties dropping dead if it wasn’t a complete diet given how many people feed that stuff LOL

And I’m sure you can make it more enriching by hiding the food in various places.

I tried feeding Tad banana pieces a couple of times but she wasn’t having it. She is a picky little brat
