➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I don't think we're even arguing the same points here. I'm not sure how to phrase what I mean in a manner clear enough for you to understand—sorry. Words... so useless at times, eh?

I'm not saying it's the dog's fault. I'm saying that these super smart dogs that need extra care are hard to fix once they've gone down these paths, whereas more average dogs might be more feasible. Believe me, I've had experience. Fault isn't what I care about. It's the problematic behaviour, and more specifically, whether it can be fixed. If not, then I think euthanasia is a viable option, since there are far more problematic dogs than there are problematic dog homes.

I also don't think they're "bad" dogs in the traditional sense of being wired psychopathic from birth, I just don't know what else to call them. Malice is almost exclusively human. It's not something I'm trying to assign to their actions.
I agree with all of this.
I think where my opinions digress is that I don’t think killing chickens (specifically in the scenario of the GSDs that started this) is worthy of euthanasia on its own.

But anyway, is anyone else dying to lighten the mood or is it just me? I’m suffocating here.

Exactly. That’s my thoughts too. I agree with most everything. It’s just hard to convey that over the internet.

And yes please go ahead! Sorry for starting this whole thing

Check out this little dude that ran out from under Theia’s bed while I was vacuuming.
Not sure how long he was inside for; the dark colour is abnormal and from malnutrition. Makes his little tail look like a lemur’s. Pretty cute.

I said "not in the right PLACE", not "not in the right plane of existence." ;)

Ah okay. I guess I took place to mean like mentally. Like not in the right state of mind/crazy/something wrong with them haha

Probably not. Hard to convey or interpret meaning and tone over the Internet. Also, on that note, sorry if it came across as arguing or anything. I was not trying to argue and actually agree with a lot of what you guys are saying. I find the discussion interesting and appreciate everyone taking the time.

I agree with everything but I do think even the worst chicken killer can usually be fixed and even if not, the behavior can at least be managed. I don’t think it necessarily requires death. There are plenty of dogs that if kept away from small animals can be wonderful dogs.

Heck, there’s plenty of dogs that are aggressive to humans that I think are far more dangerous dogs.

But I’m fully aware there aren’t enough homes. A lot of people won’t even adopt dogs let alone a damaged or problematic dog. They prefer to buy puppies. So I totally get it. I just hate seeing a dog, any dog, problematic or not, get euthanatized if it could be saved. There’s a real problem with that but that’s a whole separate issue.

Anyway, thanks for the discussion

@KDOGG331 — Have you ever experienced euthanasia on a personal level? Honestly, we should all be so lucky. It's remarkably peaceful, and a better death than most get.

I have not but peaceful or not, I just mostly hate seeing any dog, or any animal for that matter, be euthanized if it could have had a chance. I guess that’s where my issue comes in. But there’s plenty of healthy, young, well adjusted dogs being euthanized too. I wish I could save them too. I might be a bit idealistic. Idk.

Heck, maybe I need to open up a rescue or training center or something and take in and fix all these problematic dogs. :lau

I found it a rather polite debate myself. :D
Lots of opinions and discussion without rudeness.

Don't start a rescue unless you have a fortune. I know women who do it. Their homes are filthy and trashed, they're penniless, and they cry themselves to sleep every night because there are always more that they can't help.

What you can do is find a legit, small rescue that has a specific cause, no red tape/administrative costs, and support them by sending supplies or donating to the vets they use. There are a lot of them out there doing their best and they rely on community support. It's an excellent way to help if you feel the urge.
