➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I'm a more hands-on person with my animals...

I do my dog's hair, teeth, nails, and everything else they need. All of my animals pretty much have their care done by us, I don't really rely on anyone to care for my animals or do things for me.

That’s awesome!! I’m pretty much the same. I do all the bathes, nail trims, brushing, etc. I even brush the cat’s teeth LOL

The only thing I don’t do is shaving her because 1. I don’t have clippers and 2. Cats have pretty sensitive skin so I’m terrified I’m gonna cut her or something haha

But I’d love to eventually get clippers and do it myself and probably will if I ever get a poodle or something that needs regular trims but for now, once a year trim at most, or just as needed (if she gets a mat or something), it’s cheap.

I would love a mini or two!!! They’re so cute!! :love

Although I also want a full size one I can ride lol

One day!!

I don’t think I have ever seen a picture of them before.... I would have remembered that guy :lau

Maybe it was before I joined or maybe my memory is worse than I thought :lau

I think I do remember you briefly talking about them before but I don’t think I’ve ever seen them.

:lau :gig :lau

That could apply to lots of animals!

The main reason I’ve never gotten one, besides the time and everything, is the vet and farrier ha

:lau

That’s awesome! Probably saves a lot. Maybe I’ll get lucky and find someone to do them free for me if/when I ever get one lol

Probably not though.

And that won’t be for a loooooooooongggggggggg time if ever.
I'm sure the Amish that live near my brother would be able to teach me how to do everything with my horses so I don't have to rely on someone else... I have issues relying on other people because I have always been let down by people.

I bet they could!!! Or maybe a farrier would be willing to let you watch!

And that makes sense! They always say if you want something done right, do it yourself. :lau

Our farrier taught the Mex years ago.

If I could give my dogs their vaccines, I would!

I know how to do it, but obviously I have no access to the vaccines.

I've even induced labor on my mom's dog with pitocin. The veterinarian that I used to work for gave me a syringe of it to give to our beagle because she only had one puppy and he thought it was going to be a rough delivery for her and wanted to induce her early. The puppy was a beagle lab mix. I actually delivered the puppy like a dog midwife :lau

Why in the world do people shave their cat?

:lau

Well, the first time she had a lot of mats cause my dad had been letting her out and the pine sap and burrs stuck to her. Brushing didn’t work so they only way to get them off was to do a full shave (lion cut).

The next time (last year) I only shaved her because I had told them she didn’t like to be brushed and after the last incident they said she may just be the type of cat that has to be shaved down every year.

So I did.

Full lion cut again.

Then this time, just a couple weeks ago, she had a couple mats on her butt, so I had them shave them off but because it’s getting cold and because she HATES being shaved and always acts miserable afterwards, this time, I just asked them to shave the mats off and not do a full shave. They also brushed her and did her nails.

So for me, it’s been legitimate reasons, but I can’t say why other people do it. Some people may like the look or maybe to keep cool in the summer.

But I only did it out of necessity.

And I’ve been trying to work with her to get her to accept being brushed as well as keeping her indoors so she doesn’t have to be shaved again. :fl

To piss the groomers off:gigsome guy when I was a groomer asked if we could shave his cat because it was one of those long haired ones. It turned into a horror show and the cat would not behave I looked like I had been attacked by Freddy Krueger!

:lau :gig :lau

Nahhh I had legitimate reasons every time! Haha

Though I did also have them trim her nails this last time :lau

But they offered!! Lol

But she’s also a very sweet gentle cat and not a fighter. She’s very good. Just makes a lot of noise lol

She is also very good for the vets. Let’s them do whatever they want to her. Haha

They say she’s the best cat they’ve ever had :lau

Can’t you buy some of them at Tractor Supply? I thought you could. I think the only one you can’t do is the rabies cause it has to be administered by a real vet but even that they have cheap clinics to get it at.

And awww that’s awesome!! What did you do with the puppy?
