I heard about a group of guys who are starting a band and they named themselves Duvet.
It's a cover band.
One of the 3 year old Leghorns developed Ascites. Swelled like a balloon, poor girl. Couldn't believe the amount of fluid that came out. Lots of little pebbles in the oviduct. I'll post pictures in the other thread later.
Butchered 2 other Leghorns and both were covered up in fat. Fatty liver also. These hadn't started laying this year after the molt. I was blaming the squirrels for eating all the feed. Maybe not. Last Leghorn is laying regularly.
Point of view please. Is it better to butcher the new pullets or the turning 2 this year hens? I hatched the pullets and intended them for meat, but they are pumping the eggs out. 9 out of 12 eggs daily. Way too much for us.
