If you zoom in on the second picture you can see the little tear like hole that I made in the membrane.

They both cracked the shell themselves. I did poke a hole through the membrane just to be sure. I did not see a hole through the membrane when I chipped off the shell they had already cracked.
I'd rather be safe than sorry.

With you 100%! I knew you'd poked holes just wondering if they made them bigger. I followed a duck hatch thread on here that was a successful hatch but it took days from pip to full hatch. Now that's literally the sum of my experience but hope it makes you feel better. Got my hopes up for two happy healthy duck babies in the next day or two!

It's true but that was ONE experience that I witnessed via byc. Give it the credit that you choose. In no way am I even attempting to tell you how to handle your duck babies. Only ease your mind.

Don't do that! I'm pretty sure I remember everyone telling this person NOT to do that! If it gets to that point you could call in some of the duck experts from this site. Right? BYC to the rescue?!
