I have no clue how to handle the water issue with our ducks this coming winter. (Next winter? Whatever) just trying to make it through spring and summer with no snake or hawk issues. One season at a time... Lolz
I agree, the eggs looked different development to me too. Waiting for better photos from KiKi. Eggs should show very visible veins from day three of incubation. Also remember that these are chicken eggs not duck eggs so they might not look exactly the same as S & W did at this stage of development. I hope this works. My other question, once you candle them again, and label them, is if there are any obvious differences from one egg to the next? Do you think all of your new eggs are on the same age of development?
you need one that does not automatically turn off.@KikisGirls that heating pad I bought is a RCA ( really crappy appliance) returning it tomorrow.. your right fricken aliens. Anyone got any ideas what would work as a heat source in a homemade styrofoam hatcher incubator thing besides a light?
To increase humidity it is the surface area that counts, not the volume. That is why sponges are effective..Starting humidity level is 21 percent. Added 1/2 cup of water to see what that does.
Will check on it in an hour.
Yep, due to stratification, air movement or lack there of...you will get different temps at different times in the bator. 1 to 2°F is nothing to worry about!I take that back...the therm on the right side is a degree higher. I'm going to move the thermometers around now and wait...
To see if that changes things.
Sweet...this is good. So I might actually have a good working bator now.Yep, due to stratification, air movement or lack there of...you will get different temps at different times in the bator. 1 to 2°F is nothing to worry about!
I poured water to cover the whole bottom of the water tray thingTo increase humidity it is the surface area that counts, not the volume. That is why sponges are effective..
Maybe...just be sure to let things settle down, stabilize, before making any other adjustments to the bator. 45mins. to an hour is good time frame.Sweet...this is good. So I might actually have a good working bator now.
