Your call of course, ... why not research raw food diets for dogs before you rule it out. I learned about it when I adopted a German Shepard who had chronic diarrhea and after treating several times w/Metronidezole I discovered the benefits of including raw meat (properly balanced organ and muscle meat and bone) as at a part of your dogs daily diet. Never had to medicatee him again for digestive problems. Zach passed away at 14 yrs. I knew a chihuahua owned by a vet who lived to 28yrs! The dog not the vet. lolI had a rat dog for 16 plus years and I never fed her wet food and was never advised to.
Bobo eats his dry food just fine...I think ( I do take a mallet to it to break it up for him) I am debating on if I really should switch him to wet food.

I'm not sure I can stomach feeding a raw diet.Your call of course, ... why not research raw food diets for dogs before you rule it out. They are awesome little guys and I almost adopted a 'fake dog' puppy... I was too scared I'd trip and squish him, .... same fear I had about my rats when they were free ranging!![]()
I used to do the baths- flea shampoo at a vet clinic. At first I found dogs easier but some are heavy and have excess fur. Takes forever! Once I got the hang of bathing cats, I rather do 2 cats than a big hairy dog.We have our ways. Cats can be and are dipped. They can do it the easy way or not. I wasn't happy about using the fish net, but the cat got dipped. Just make sure the tub is big enough for the fish net and cat.
Safeguard is a great drug, but for it to be effective in dogs and cats, high doses need to be given three days in a row, and I think that treatment does not treat tapes.Whoa, they are proud of that product! Good ol Safeguard isn't enough?
That's why we did the blender thing for old dog -- trying to get him to eat enough by making it easier. I was adding a raw egg in, too, and the vet had a cow about salmonella. I don't think my vet would be supportive of a raw diet.I'm not sure I can stomach feeding a raw diet.
I will check it out though.
The vet was saying wet food (canned wet regular dog food) was better because he is so little and hims teefies are so small. Implied that it would be easier for him to eat.
If that's your concern, just soften the kibble by soaking in warm water. I do this for Tucker who just had 3 additional teeth removed - leaving very few poor guy! He also get 4oz daily of Instinct Raw brand frozen beef formula. Conveniently formed into 1oz portions - just thaw and feed, no muss or fussI'm not sure I can stomach feeding a raw diet.

Many are skeptical and quite a few advocate it. Still being debated but it works for me... I feed raw eggs too, especially if i drop it on the floor. That's why we did the blender thing for old dog -- trying to get him to eat enough by making it easier.
