Sorry, Kiki, the starter of this thread, decided that 13 was proper. I'm still stuck at 2. But everyone should have 13 dogs in their yard at least once. The pack mentality, the personalities, the sheer joy of being mobbed when they haven't seen you for like 5 minutes. Dogs are better than kids in that aspect.

Chickens, on the other hand, are an interesting study... Feed me, but don't touch. I may peck you. No sudden movements, either.​

Yes, Cyndi found a home. DD & fiancé wants Jan and Crazy Lady supports the insanity. Another person coming to get someone today, maybe. One has officially left the property. One down. That leaves momma and 4 others.

After it getting rained on and sitting in the collected rainwater (YEA! we got rain!), I tossed it to the chickens. No momma came back to check on it. I figured a humane death by chicken was the only option. They want more. And squash larvae.

One was heard to say, "Feed me! Seymour!"

My pullets are now hens - HAPPY HATCHDAY! The eggs are shrinking. No change in diet, but we are getting small and extra small. Cute, but not the contract nor the prophecy. Every once in a while, we get a large. I'm researching egg sizes.

You need ducks! Big eggs every day! They never seem to take a day off laying either, at least not in the summer.

I've got one little Sussex who is a year old now and is stilling laying pullet sized eggs. I like them for when I'm trying to halve a recipe that calls for 3 large eggs. 2 Sussex eggs = 1 1/2 large eggs.
