➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Well they’re hatching somewhere in a factory or however they do it with big hatcheries lol. But yes, as soon as they arrive (tomorrow?) y’all will get plenty of pictures.
:love
I’m so excited. Going on a tractor supply run today. I’ve got bedding, still need to get chick starter, food/water containers, nutri drench, blu kote, maybe corid.. am I missing anything?

I always like to get the little electrolyte packs for their water but maybe that's unnecessary.

So exciting! :wee Are you brooding them for a few weeks before putting them in the coop?

Nope.
Coop will be their brooder. They’ll get access to the run after a few weeks.

It’s plenty warm enough here for them, I don’t see the point in keeping them in the AC and having to deal with a messy house + the shock of moving outside later.

I was peeking in every once and a while, but we had our pipes rerun/replaced in the house on Saturday and one of them decided to spring a leak so I couldn't hang out too much.
I did get to see your last live!
I'm at work now. They are a lot more strict about phone use during the week.
This is one of my robots. It's a robotic arm that loads the parts for me.View attachment 1463181
Very cool, I can understand why they don't want pics of what they have.
So sorry about your pipes, hope that got fixed and it didn't cost an arm and a leg.:th

We don’t brood ours inside either. :)They get to be in their horse trough brooder out in the shop. These new babies have a heat lamp but prefer to snuggle together in the area without it.

I need some quick advice. Ok so the quail egg is still making no progress in except for the external pip (remember it has no air sac so it's internal pip is the external pip as well) should I break away at the shell where the chick started cracking it to see what's going on? It also looks like the chick started zipping about a day ago because the crack is longer then an external pip crack. The chick is still alive at the moment I just don't know what to do or how long to wait since I've never dealt with an egg with no air sac...

I’m not even providing a heat lamp. I’m going to see how they do without any added heat (95f days, 75f nights). If they look too hot I can bring them in, and if they look too cold I have a heating pad I can provide.

I’m HOPING it will be just right for them and a fuzzy object will be enough for heat/comfort.
