➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I don't own a gator. I just looked up a gator that someone owned in Florida that they dressed up and kept as a pet. You can own a gator here in Texas if you have a permit. You can pretty much own anything here if you have a permit. I live on a postage stamp so if I had the room is go for more chickens over a possible man-eater.

My cat brought me a bunny last night. Luckily unharmed, but terrified. Cat stayed inside and I released little dude in the pig pen, where it's safe from evil house cats.

Normally I don't feel so bad when the cat brings me presents, but I saved the bunnies from the dogs twice this week already and now this! I guess thats the harsh reality, if they can't stay safe and hidden, predators get them. If not my cat, then the neighborhood coyotes. But they are just little babies! :hit

Finally caught up after spending the day at in-laws with no internet.
I had lamb for the first time two years ago, it was nasty. To this day it’s the only meat I don’t like.
You would not like dinner with my Australian family then, haha. Lamb is a staple.
I can definitely see how someone wouldn’t like the taste though. It’s got a musky aftertaste that takes some getting used to.

Definitely can’t get behind the “can’t eat it because it’s cute” thing though.

I've only had elk summer sausage. It was delish but I'm sure it was cut with pork of some kind for fat. Still better than most summer sausages I've had. I also got bison summer sausage from the same place and it was even better. Darn! Now I'm going to have to try to figure out where I got that from!!! Hubs and I found it at a roadside farmers market traveling through Arkansas but we'd passed the farm where the elk and bison were raised just before we got to the market. Still I can't remember for the life of me what it was called though. Ugh!! This sounds like a perfect project for 1 AM... :th
I think darn near any meat turned into summer sausage is delicious! Moose, bear, elk, bison, deer, anything!

There are critters I can't kill because they're cute, but once it's dead I'd eat just about anything except human. (That should go without saying, but miss Kiki is just the kind to twist my words!)

I get that. I’m having a hard time killing the possum and raccoon I just trapped next to my coop that have been leaving prints all over it for the last week.

IMHO I think if people eat an animal then they should see how it’s raised/killed at least once before picking and choosing favorites, within reason (as I know not everyone grew up on a farm).
I find cows to be ridiculously cute, cuter than sheep by far.

Predators, however, get no quarter. Anything after my babies will get unceremoniously dispatched with a shovel and/or boiling water. And maybe nailed above the coop door if I am mad enough.

Goats are my favourite out of the ruminants.
