This one came from a green egg so it's from an oe hen. And was labeled as OE so I assumed OE hen bread back to Marans or maybe another OE. I hope they didn't breed it back to an austrolorpe but label the chick as OE bc I don't find that accurate. I'd say EE at that point but I'm not sure exactly where this egg came from (mpc hatching egg) so I have no idea how to find out what breeds were used.

Out of 6 Ideal EEs, 2 have black combs. One all black, one partial. The answer I got was it is a mulberry and should be culled from breeding. We are selecting away from dark combs. Easy, I'm not breeding these.

Mine an OE so a mutt. Bred for egg color and not type I would assume. But that makes sense for purposes breeding to a standard.

@RUNuts im sorry I see yours are EE too... I missed that detail bc I was fast reading. So maybe that's where she got it from. I don't see what it would matter with EE or OE though. You don't show them and they really don't have a type so who says they can't have dark comb. Unless it's related to some other bad unwanted traits.
