Well.. herpes is a DNA virus, much different from a parasitic Protozoa that causes disease (as you know).

Besides those two examples, there are several herpesviruses with a certainly limited or only suspected ability to cross species barriers. Those include Saimiriine herpesvirus 2, Phocid herpesvirus 2, Equid herpesvirus 1, Epstein-Barr Virus, Marek’s disease virus, and pseudorabies virus.

So does this mean that yes humans can get the Marek's disease herpes virus?

However, in terms of the potential to cross the species barrier, there are a few herpesviruses, including B virus disease (CeHV-1), Marek's disease virus (MDV), Equid herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) or pseudorabies virus (PRV), which are potentially able to infect different hosts.

I love how the conversation went from what people Google to bovine trich and whether it's transmitted to humans.
All these people are cutting up their Marek's diseased chickens on the regular.
I want to know!
