➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I saw mine this morning looking like she has Marek's. My gut says Marek's but I'm thinking maybe I'll try a couple of drugs for a few days and see if she gets better.

I'm so afraid of this coming to my flock it's not even funny. I really hope it's not what you're dealing with!

I think once you get Marek's in your flock it's either cull all and wait for years to get more or you deal with it and breed for resistance.
@casportpony is a big girl, she has things under control.

@Tesumph i don't think I'd worry yet either unless you're noticing the comb, and significant differences in how they are feathering in and acting. When I had multiple chicks together I could pick out the boys from very early on based on behavior alone. They were much friendlier and adventurous and had mock battles constantly. To me they are much more fun as chicks... I have zero experience with adult Roos tho other than my aunts RIR she had when I was a kid. That dude was a jerk!

I'm sure she does. I haven't dealt with disease tho and just dread it. For me it would mean my first cull which is a scary thought. For this very reason I'm excited to have a potential roo so I can just hatch my own eggs if I feel like expanding my flock rather than bringing in anything new.

Based on behavior I would say almost all are roos.
Based on feathering I would say one.
Based on comb I would say about half.

I’m so confused and a little annoyed by it all. Lol.

For the record I can definitely see what you are seeing in these two that has you thinking "boy" but I'm going to stay optimistic. I hate the not knowing part! EE especially are hard to tell on, for me anyway, but I had one bought as a pullet when I got my first chicks that I had suspicions about so I got rid of it before I knew for sure bc I didn't want to disrupt the pecking order once they were established. Touched base later with the person I gave it to and they confirmed. My gut says you'll know for sure when you're ready to make decisions. Oh and you know on EE if you start seeing red wing leakage that's a telltale sign but that won't come til later.
