Have I mentioned how much I hate poetry? I mean, I understand that music is basically a form of poetry, but just reading poetry makes me throw up in my mouth a little. I'm too much of a simpleton to enjoy it

I don’t read poetry either, but I am very much into spoken word sort of stuff. It’s the emotion behind the voice that really riles me up. A good beat is nice, and a good voice is totally optional. I could listen to someone scream some sick lyrics all day.

Oh, John Darnielle is probably one of the best lyricists I've ever heard. That dude tells stories in his music. He's probably one of my favorites.
