➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

We've been looking at the same one so thank you! Aren't you supposed to take out the turner though once lockdown starts? Or am I reading this wrong?
You are right. The turner comes out and the eggs get spread out for lockdown. View attachment 1500162
What I meant to say was that the auto turner barely holds nine, and this oval shell they made wraps tightly around the turner, so while right now it looks quite roomy... It is extremely crowded once you add 9 little bodies inside there.
For reference, here is complaint number one, a first hatch with the best view you will ever get...

Versus being most of the way through, unable to count how many birds are hatched/pipped/possibly damaged.

Your pictures aren’t showing up, Ryn! Try using the “upload a file” button below instead of the picture icon button above.

I can’t see the attached pictures but I understand what you mean now! :)

I think watermelon is one of their favorites but they don't get it too often because of the sugar but it was hot so yeah. And the mini ones were like $2 at Walmart so I was like why not haha they ate it sooo fast. Completely cleaned to the skin too :lau
I try to only give them treats as a pick me up when the temps seem unbearable. I worry that they are not drinking enough.
I freeze chunks of the watermelon rind with some red flesh and then give them to the flock on those hot days. They love it. I alsofreeze chopped green pea hulls and shredded cabbage and carrots in qt bags with water. Those make tasty cooling treats as well. Both insure the birds are getting drops of water with their treats as the peck away.

I got video of Quackers talking! https://instagram.com/p/BmVvUCjh9oB/
Looking and sounding cute!

Being sick puts a real damper on my activity levels. Can't do as much so each time I get up, I do a short project.
My companions while I rest between short projects...picked a little okra, fold a load of clothes, feed and water the brooder chicks.

Coyotes have attacked my Cochin pen the last two nights killing three. Boys chased a single male across the pasture early this morning.
Sometime today, we will repair the damage again and move the remaining two hens to a different structure. Then we are going to bait and set traps in the pen.
The fences around the breed pens are six feet tall. I'm going to set up the night camera too. We think it is a loner male, but photos will help us confirm. Hope to stop him from jumping the 6 foot fence before he figures out that the duck pen fence is only 4.5 feet tall.

I'm in line at the store. I'll be home in 20ish.

Fast could mean those two are waiting for me when I get home. I hope not.
When they start popping Kiki, leave them in the incubator for a little bit. They act like a cheering squad and tell the others to get out of the eggs. They like popping out in groups.
