➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I'm going to see how they do with the light set at this. I am going to leave the heating pad on just half of the floor and up the side on low. It is measuring closer to 100 on the bare pad but I have put a towel over it.

I think I spot another pipper!!!!

Junior is getting bigger! When do ducks start to feather?

I am new to raising ducks but my Pekin and Rouens are a little over 2 weeks old and are shedding their down like crazy! Feathers are flying everywhere, especially during and after bath time. My Pekin are starting to get their wing feathers in. I'm sure the others are as well it's just not as easy to see on the Rouens' dark feathers.
These are my yellow fluffies after their bath just a little bit ago.

I figure the rest of their feathers will be along shortly.

I have it set to turn off at 30c what ever that is in normal degrees.
30°C = 86°F

While chicks may do fine at 85°F for you, it may be too cool for quail.

I have the guinea keets with their heat source set for 95°F and that is where they are staying. They are so much smaller than chicks and poults they need the extra heat.

My brooder is set so the keets can freely go from the warm area to the cooler area. The feed and water is in the cool area.

Yeah, quail need to be kept at 95-100 degrees for the first week and then it can be lowered to 90 by the second and dropped by five degrees each week of age until it reaches room temp.

Says the rule book. I've never kept anything that hot.
