I have my adult quail on 1/2inch hardware cloth with an oilpan underneath. 2'x3' pan from O'Reilly only about $15 each. They work really well, just scrape the poop off with a kitty litter scoop.

I have my cage ready to go...remember my build photos? With it raised and I have trays under neath to collect the poop once they are big. But I didn't realize they were this darn little and I can't put them on the wire this small.
I will figure it out.

Well, sometimes, does happen, it's frustrating cause you'd rather have an answer for "why" than "dunna know". Failure to thrive, etc. Good thing your not hatching pheasants...you'd be going crazy trying to figure it out. I gave up many years ago, trying to figure out why they die in shell, unless It's obvious.

Well, sometimes, does happen, it's frustrating cause you'd rather have an answer for "why" than "dunna know". this is what I am calling them...I have no clue what these colors should be called.

If it's a yellow yellow and not a grayish yellow, should get white feathers. Grayish yellow could be a silver bird, or diluted gold. Still learning the fluff color on the "non-standard" colors. Second one looks like a definite brown tuxedo to me.
Yellow with stripe looks like markings for a golden or Italian, but the picture looks like theethe some red fluff too? Usually chicks I've had with red fluff turn out to have reddish feathers. Should be fun watching them grow up. Please take at least weekly pics of that last one.

Yep, that's an even bigger rush. Knowing that you hatched and raised the parent birds and now hatching their prodigy! Very gratifying.
