➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Cool! Maybe those tiny ones would work with quail? I have no idea really.
I'm not even going to chance it. The mini chickens will their own coop. And the quail will get a different one. They have different dietary requirements and quail can be flighty.
But all of this is me counting my eggs before they hatch.:D

On a completely different note.... When I went to bed last night the tv and lights were off, only my son was up playing on his computer. When my hubby and I wake up this morning, him because he has to go to work and me because I help with taking care of the animals, the tv was on. No sound, which is what happens when it's been turned off. It automatically mutes it and you have to push the volume button to get it to come on. I say to my hubby, "Why is the tv on?" He said, "Hmm. I don't know. I didn't turn it on for anything." I say to my son this morning, "If you're going to play the ps4 or whatever, remember to turn off the tv ok?" He looks at me like I'm crazy and tells me he didn't mess with the tv at all after we went to bed. This is at least the 2nd time that it's done this that I can remember. It's freaking me out man!!! :rant:oops::barnie
Anybody else's tv just randomly turn on for no reason? I am trying to figure out of any of my dogs could have somehow done it but I just don't see how. The tv remote was sitting on the kitchen table, facing AWAY from the tv. I'm at a loss.

Spooky!!! Sometimes I'll know I turned a light off only to find it on again. I'm
Sure there's an explanation but one never comes to mind when it happens! Hehe!

8 Japanese Bantam Buff with Black Tail and 6 Serama hatching eggs.
I know the Serama can be hard to hatch, but I want to try it out anyway. I'm hoping to get at least three, enough for a mini flock.

Yes! It's been raining hard for a while, although it looks like it's stopped for now. The backyard has some big puddles but it's not that bad.
Most of our backyard is flooded in the low points, and parts of the pasture is flooded. No rain for months and it suddenly all comes at once. :barnie

When I was looking up quail, I did see that some people keep them on the bottom of their aviary. Like if they keep flying birds like parrots who stay pretty high up, the quail will live underneath them along the floor of the cage. With chickens, I think they will compete for the same " territory" too much and the quail would probably loose that fight.

What about just laying down something absorbent like wood chips or wood pellets (non-cedar based) on top of the plywood, and then sprinkling fresh ones on at the end of each day? Yes, they will be walking around their poop a teeny bit, but I think that is ok. It dries up pretty fast, and I honestly don't think they care. The wood pellets are highly, highly absorbent in particular.
I'll have to check out and see what the pellet thing are thank for this idea.

Hey @Pugsabi did it flood down where you are as badly as it did here? We easily have gotten 3-4 inches within a couple hours.

The first incubator I got from a company on Amazon. It smelled a bit like plastic when I first turned it on, but I knew that could be normal. I had it set up in the bathroom and about 20 minutes later not only did it smell stronger but it started to smell like smoke. So I mailed it back.
A person on Craigslist was selling two incubators with auto turners for cheap so I got them. They seem to work fine for now but I'll have to double check when I get home afterwork. Even if they don't work, I can use the auto turner on an LG from tractor supply and still come out on top price wise.
Sounds like a great plan.
Did you get some coffee yet? It's going to be a long night.
