I didn’t click the link but you know in Texas homes are notorious for foundation issues so some folks do try to DIY the repairs. They literally dig out a hole and use hydraulic jacks to lift a particular sagging part.

Did that to a friend's parents house with bottle jacks. Their son built bukkheads and drove pilings for boat houses so he pretty much knew what he was doing. The home was on blocks but sank due to our marshy land here

Well yea but.. manufactured homes ARE real houses lol. I know they can differ in quality but I’m not talking about a motorhome or something on wheels.
These types of manufactured homes.. or “houses that are moved?”... are what we’re talking about, right?

Tes, in some parts of the world And houses that are very old were built with a pier and beam foundations instead of slabs. With pier and beam there are beams that run the length or width of the home that the interior floor joists are all run across. This is what allows them to pick up the whole structure or sometimes they even cut them in half.

I believe pier and beam is a more structurally sound way to build, especially with the clay soils of Texas. I have 96 piers going down 30’ to bedrock under my house.

I don't think they make/build "real" houses anymore that can be moved.
I might be wrong, but this house Brown bought is not a manufactured home like you are thinking.

Now a days they build homes (here) on concrete foundations, right?
I don't think these kind can be moved.


I do know that these kind are being raised though...I have no clue how that is even possible but they are raising a lot in certain areas of Houston due to the constant flooding. (Harvey)

Houses on slabs where raised here, after Katrina, It cost a lot to have that done and priced a lot of older people out of the city. My older next door neighbor was in a small house on a slab and she was quoted $80,000 just to raise her home 3'. She ended up taring it down and moving in with her sister in Texas.

No, it is not how I was thinking.
I wonder how they raise them up, there’s no way you could raise a modern built house up like that.

They use steel beams and equipment that slowly moves everything up at the same rate of speed
