The bobcat made off with a snap/spring trap night before last...actually pulled the trap from the steel wire that attached it to a post. She did not return last night. Wish she had not carried off the trap so we could have eliminated her. As it is she is injured and dragging a trap which means she can not hunt. I hate for her to suffer....

I hope she turns up so you can put her out of her misery but I'm so glad she can't hurt your birds anymore.

Could she have gotten that far??

Can you take a couple out without hurting the humidity too much? I usually get too impatient at this point and start taking out eggs and gently opening the big end. Probably should candle first to see if you can see movement. But my eggs usually end up being quitters or duds I didn't recognize as such when I candled previously. I hope you get more chicks.
There was a new fluff butt waiting when I got home! She was from the 12 eggs of my own I set. The first 3 were from the 36 I bought elsewhere. While they weren’t shipped I’m not certain how they were stored so perhaps they got an early start?
After the last hatch when they all hatched by the end of day 16 I dropped the thermostat by .2 degrees Celsius, so I was very surprised when they started popping out at day 15!
Hoping for more! :jumpy:fl:jumpy

Yay! Congrats on the chick, if she hatched by herself I would not mess with the eggs at this point, just let them do their thing for another 24ish hours. At that point decide if intervention is needed for the remaining eggs. If the first chicks were shipped eggs, then they likely started developing during the shipment. Did you candle them during pre-lockdown at all? It's possible they might be the only ones who developed from the shipped eggs.
