➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

In something as small as quail, rigor mortis should have passed by now. The fact that they are not stiff means you can cook them anytime.
WOOT!
Will they rot (in my fridge) if I leave them until Monday?

@KikisGirls
your photo brought back memories. I'm sure a lot of us have the Christmas morning bike photo inf front of the fire place. The difference with mine (probably circa similar year) is I had a full length flannel nightgown on and fuzzy slippers! LOL! The fire place was probably in use later that day too. :lau

My bike was yellow by the way. ;)

What was the weight on your meaties?
Don't weigh them. They fit whole inside a 1 gallon bag about the size of a 5# store bird. Call it 5 pounds.

The last whole ones had to be coaxed into a 1 gallon bag. Call it 7 pounds?

These are 7.5 weeks and early, so I planned to take the largest ones early. These are slower growing than the last ones. I'm either not feeding them as much (cause they empty the feeders no matter how much I put in them) or the mosquitoes REALLY did a number or the heat. And the mosquitoes and flies are worse this fall than the spring. Nasty flies.

Lessons learned today:
The flies go away when it rains on you while processing chickens.
Flies come right back after it stops, but the reprieve was nice.
If you slope your table to drain the water, don't lean up against it while it is raining or your pants get soaked and boots get full.
