What? Lol

What are they? Sheep? Though I think I spy a little goat in the bottom corner! Lol
I couldn't stop because there was a car behind me but yes they even had little bitty baby goats there too.

It has been proven that one method of prolonging the hatchability of eggs is to store them pointy side up in an egg carton that has been enclosed in a plastic bag kept in a cool place such as inside a closed cooler. No turning of the eggs is done during the storage phase. Eggs stored in this manner have been shown to have up to 80% hatches after storing for 30 days. Enclosing them in a plastic bag, storing small end up inside of a cooler has been shown to help prevent the loss of air from the air cell.

You should be able to read about this storage method in the hatching eggs storage section in Hatching Eggs 101 by @Sally Sunshine

There has not been any evidence shown that wrapping the eggs tightly in bubble wrap causes any damage. There is evidence to show that allowing the eggs to "spin" when unwrapping the bubble wrap can cause damage.

Other things that cause damage during shipment are being placed in a non-pressurized plane at altitude which can cause the destruction of the internals of the eggs. Flying them in a pressurized area of the plane works well but not in the non-pressurized cargo parts of the planes.

Eggs that have their containers turned upside down can suffer when the small ends are up during the shipping process.

The shipping method with some of the best results is to wrap the eggs in bubble wrap, well packed in a box which is then bubble wrapped inside a larger box. The outer box and bubble wrap help to prevent the vibrations being passed into the inner box and the eggs.

I've been reading Sally Sunshine! Great information.

I love hot chocolate. But then again I made a double mug (2 packets. Which is technically what you need cause they say it’s for 6 oz of water which my mugs definitely are way more) and loaded it with marshmallows and whipped cream and just a splash of milk :lau
Ahhhh. Loaded with sugar! My glucose would be sky high.

My first batch of eggs are hatching tonight. Already have one that popped a day early.
When I went out a little later this evening than usual to coop up the ducks, they were huddled in the corner of their pen quaking up a storm. And there was an owl on top of Gertrude!!
Fortunately the owl quickly flew off and she ran to her buddies. Checked her over and no damage. Will definitely be cooping the ducks by 6:30 pm instead of 7 pm. From now on!

:frow That's wonderful, when I was following regularly (before I started working ) Y'all were just getting started selling eggs. It sounds like it is starting to work out really well. :highfive: I am so glad for y'all. hope your headache gets better soon and your current semester gets better and easier as well. Hopefully the hawks will decide to go somewhere else. Sending prayers and good wishes your way :fl Let us know how things are going in the future as you have time. LOL
:hugs Thank you so much! It’s been a wild ride these past couple of months, especially since we’ve become established in the area. :)

We’re actually starting off our breeding program, and depending on the availability of some certain chicks when we go to get our pullets we may end up with a new breeding group too...:D

Thank you for the headache prayers! It’s gotten better already. :highfive: This semester will just be something I have to get used to. :idunno

I only just now finished dinner, maybe 20 mins ago :lau  finally started making it a few minutes after 11 cause I was too lazy to all night plus I couldn’t decide what to eat :lau  settled on grilled cheese cause it’s easy and fast lol added a little bit of ham to it. Little glass of prune juice after so I don’t get pain or anything cause I put way too much cheese on my grilled cheeses and a half a lemon square for dessert. Already had a whole one earlier. Now super stuffed and full. Going to watch TV since I can’t go to bed right away after eating such a huge meal and I’ve been meaning to watch my show anyway, haven’t had time. Oh and I might watch my friend’s family’s dogs next weekend.

Also the temperature is dropping rapidly here. It was I believe 33, 35 degrees Fahrenheit today but now is 10 degrees. Might even be 8 now. I have been watching it steadily decline over the last few hours. 33 to 25 to like 17, 15, 13, 12, 11, 10, etc. COLD. And incredibly windy out there too. It may get to 6 tonight.

Apparently tonight is supposed to get down to 6 degrees and I just looked up the wind chill values and it says -8, could get as low as -11. Tomorrow is supposed to be cold too and I think Friday and then it’s in the high 40s next week, even 54 Tuesday lol, can’t wait for that! Wish we could skip this polar vortex stuff lol granted, I am nowhere near as cold as the Midwest with the -50 windchill but still
