➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Conference over. I’m exhausted.

I ended up with 13 hours for next semester. I was really scraping the bottom of the barrel for class options and missed out on some important stuff (microbiology... sigh), but all things considered it could be worse.
Biochemistry, Biomedical parasitology, Animal nutrition and feeding, and “Pathobiology diseases in the world.” Sounds fun, right?

Also signed up for a biomedical student association, so hopefully that will open networking opportunities and help me get some volunteer hours under my belt.
I badly need to get my foot in the door at a vet clinic.

This semester is going to be crazy. I’m pooped, but really excited. I have to keep reminding myself to breathe.
I’m right there with you. I didn’t realize how hectic my schedule is this semester until yesterday, plus I have been applying to different clinics. :hmm

Fizzle sticks. Went out to let the chickens out this morning and only 1 out of 4 chicken chicks is following mother hen around!?!?! 3 chicks evaporated overnight. They were there.

I've either got rats or a snake. If I add this to the slow down in egg production, I've got a problem. 2 Ways into the tight coop. Chicken door and human door. Assuming the perpetrator isn't hiding in the bedding (didn't move when I poked around), it'll be back. Snake with 3 chicks may be happy for a week. So, extra vigilance.

I thought everyone knew who Abbott & Costello are. I'm concerned about you. 3 Stooges? Laurel and Hardy? Honeymooners? Lucille Ball?

Can't dig up Amos & Andy anymore thanks to the politically correct.

Could you have rats digging in maybe?

Also I've heard of all of these I just can't get into them for some reason. My dad loved the three stooges btw.

You will get into a routine schedule and things will settle down! You got this!

Two suggestions...
First for the snake...I use one of those two part minnow traps I found at Walmart for about $15. There is a funnel at each end of the wire mesh trap. Bait with an egg. Snake goes thru the opening in the funnel. Swallows the egg and cannot pass back thru the opening. Kill snake.

Second for rats and mice...if you don't have a barn cat... cut a small hole in the lid or side of a cottage cheese container or a plastic coffee can. Use your rat bait. I use TomCat rat poison. Critter goes in, eats bait and leaves. It takes a few days to die, but if it takes a mouthful to the babies, they die too. The chickens can't get to the poison.

And, A few years ago, at dusk after locking up my birds I baited the ground near where I had seen a rat and a vole. I sat on five gallon bucket and picked them off a few each evening with a 22 loaded with rat shot. Killed 61.
The grandkids teased me with "Granny with her gun", but My feed bill got better.

61!? Omg! :th

I am so completely exhausted and sore I’ve been trying to force myself to go to the store to get some chicken to go with my veggies since I came in like over an hour ago but I haven’t been able to. I keep collapsing into chairs haha I am finally forcing myself to go though only because I don’t want eggs again cause I just had that for breakfast. :lau waaaaaaayyyyyy too tired to cook though and plus that takes time and I still have a lot I want to get done tonight and I’ve already wasted an hour so don’t want to waste more so I’m just going to get one of the precooked rotisserie chickens they sell and then just cook the veggies. A lot easier than having to cook chicken too and plus so always suck at that and usually burn it/dry it out so bad. I don’t think buying a chicken is so bad either. I don’t normally like them much but it’s fast and healthy and a good price ha

I'm not sure what's worse a snake or a rat. Probably rat.

I know I love Lucy and the 3 dumb dumbs...not the others.
