➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I'm pretty sure turkeys need game bird feed too.
I'm also pretty sure you can order it online and have it shipped free to your store.

I found some feeds from Poulin do you think any of them would work? Might be easier than ordering Purina online and waiting for it to get here if I can just go to our other feed store and pick this up. Of course I would need to call or visit our other feed store first and see if they even carry this, they may not carry all Poulin products, but still.

They have a few game bird ones.

Here are links to the 3 of them.

I don't believe that it is required to report the niacin levels on the tags. The other ingredients being listed is because of USDA regulations. You actually have to contact the manufacturer to find out the niacin levels.

Flock Raiser and All Flock typically have 55 ppm niacin which is fine for all but one breed of duck. There is one duck breed that needs 70 ppm niacin. @casportpony knows which breed that is.

The key is that the All Flock and Flock Raiser are really for adult birds. It is not for keets, poults, ducklings or goslings.

Thank you. This is very very helpful and informative.

Seems a bit like false advertising though to call it “All Flock”, “Flock Raiser”, etc. and make it seem like it’s for all life stages if it’s not??? Purina even has pictures of day old chicks and ducklings on their bag.

Okay it's probably okay for grown turkeys but not for baby ones.

Okay that makes sense. Thanks. Probably best for them to be on an actual game bird feed though? Or even meat bird feed? But I think a lot of people just feed flock raiser to everybody because it’s easier than buying separate feeds even if it’s not necessarily the best, you know?

According to a vet book, some pekins need 70 ppm.

Thank you. That is very interesting. I didn’t realize that. I wonder if it is because they are so heavy? I think Purina makes duck pellets now though so that’s a plus ha
