Hubby went to lock up the chickens and ducks for the night. All of the chickens are in the big coop. Well, I call it the big coop because I went from a little prefab coop to it, therefore "big". It's only 4x8. The adult chickens would sleep in it, so 8 of them. Then we bought that 2nd coop that is a prefab but is huge!. The littles sleep in it, so 8 of them as well. For some reason, ALL of the chickens are in the big coop. :th All 16. I don't know why. All are roosting (there are 3 different roost bars), except Priscilla who is hunkered down in the nest box. :smackThere she will stay for the night. Still hasn't laid an egg. Is eating and drinking and still pooping (after a few hrs of sitting anyway). Her abdomen doesn't feel hard nor bloated and squishy. Just feels normal. It is pouring so hubby said forget it and left them all there. They are definitely going to be ready to be let out in the morning tho. Just weird. :idunno And it's supposed to rain tomorrow and Tues. Should be an interesting next couple of days. I can't have the littles joining the bigs in that coop. It's just not big enough. That is why they have their own coop. :barnie I'll need to do some closer inspecting of the coop. We've talked about the possibility of raising it up off of the ground some. Like putting it on 4x4s or something. Nothing major. It's what we were going to do at first but... well, it just didn't happen. It should have, but it didn't. So I wonder if that is causing an issue. Idk. I will look things over tomorrow if I can.

I'm trying to get caught up... It's been a busy week.
Garden was cold and wet and then hot and dry. Garlic and onion were okay. Cukes are dieing , tomatoes are dieing muskmelon look ok.. even squash aren't doing well
Today's picking...4 pounds of okra, sweet peppers, a few apples and pears and some hot peppers. Dug a few sweet potatoes...11 pounds ...can't imagine how big those would have been if we waited until harvest in October. Biggest one weighed 3.4 pounds!

She didn't give much of a fuss when my hubby would (try to) gently pull her out of the nest box and put her on the roost bar. We figured it was because it was night time. So I went to go try and pull her out just a few minutes ago. She just softly complained a little like hey, whatcha doing? I'm trying to sit here. Oh ok, I guess I am coming out of the box, not sure why tho. So I looked her over again. Ended up putting her down outside. She went to get a few drinks from a waterer. I turn away and go clean the coops. I finish and go to put my bucket and stuff up. Turn around, where is Priscilla? She's back in the box.
Yes, she's gone broody.
Banty hen showed up with two tiny chicks.

Passion fruit. Fruit gets the size of a small lemon. Hubby's mother said they were edible. I never tried them.

Grandson got married Saturday.

Canned some elderberry juice...almost two gallons.

Visited my sister and her husband on Friday. He has lost his hair on his head, but still has most of his mustache. He made me a loaf of the best sour dough bread!

And I wish I could have some elderberry juice! Haha I’ve been drinking the syrup some lately, supposed to be good for colds/immune system.
