➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Haha seems like she is was a good sport about it.

I am not supposed to disturb Hoshi (let alone make him into a taco!) for at least a week...so far I am failing epically lol.
She’s not as awful as I make her sound.
She liked Triumph. :gig

I'm lost on the attraction of the geckos. What is the attraction? Do they dance? Or just a fancy dust collector like the bearded dragons? I say this because every time I looked at one, my reflection in the glass was more animated.

We have the invasive geckos that are just as attractive and on the back porch. These also chirp and eat bugs. Poop everywhere, but so do chickens.

And the chickens find them tasty.

If you’re actually asking, many reptiles make good companions. Some have plenty of personality and enjoy human companionship. They’re more intelligent than they let on.
Others couldn’t care less about you and are enjoyed better as eye candy. Some people keep and collect them as a hobby, some make $$$ by breeding rare morphs.

If you’re not actually asking and are just trying to be contrary.. fish somewhere else. :smack

If you take them out of their tank...do they take off?
Do you have to spend an hour finding them?

Or are they pretty calm and just chill?

Okay, just some randomness :lau

So first off, I meant to post this the other day but I forgot but the radio was playing some serious bops/jams the other night :lau

No, not mine.
IV will happily sit on our stomachs while we watch tv and fall asleep. She likes having her head scratched.
I don’t take Finn out as much because she’s old and likes her hovel, but she’s plenty friendly and won’t bite or make a run for it.
They both like basking on the fluffy dog bed in front of the window. I don’t like neurotic animals.

I'm distantly familiar with snakes. They will interact if they aren't shedding (always?) and not moody (always?). How do geckos compare to snakes? Serious question.

Several acquaintances were collecting lizards, but I never saw them out of the cage/aquarium/viewing chamber. That and tarantulas. I am fascinated by them, but watch them outside. The Florida Keys and iguana watching was fun. See invasive species. There's another! Better than squirrels, eh!

Best story is when the Keys get cold, it rains iguanas. They fall out of the trees. Just go pick up the one you want. I'm returning to the Keys one winter. One winter...

Thank you for taking the time to explain it. Geckos are like aquarium fish. Except you can take them on walks.

I think, from the limited research I’ve done, all of the beginner species (leos, cresties, beardies, etc.) are for the most part pretty calm and chill and easy to handle? But of course it probably varies a lot, both with species and with individual.

Like for example, in a video I watched on crested geckos, it said (and showed lol) some are real active and like to leap out of your hands or jump between them while others more stay put and chill, seems with them there’s really only two personality types, and you have to pick which one you prefer. They showed one of making daring leaps out of his hands multiple times and he amazingly caught them every time :lau most aren’t like that I don’t think but this one was crazy lol but that’s cresteds. Not sure about leos and the like. I imagine it’s probably similar though.

Not sure about snakes or other species.

But I think from my understanding, the monitor lizards are a lot faster and more active whereas the geckos and beardies are more chill? Which is why they make better pets. But the monitors are smarter/more intelligent so they say.
