I think something like that is awesome :love

And that’s the kind of change that’s good I think.

But I think sdm was more just saying if somebody tries to force you to change or be somebody you’re not.

If you want the change, that’s one thing, and your significant other should support that, but some people try to totally change who someone is and/or mold them into their little doll or their idea of perfection or whatever and that’s not fair.
Those people end up divorced... Just sayin

Not saying to change who you are. Do not adopt a false personality or pretend to be someone you are not.

Be yourself, but be the best version of you that is possible atm. Know your abilities and expand them as you are able. Learn how to fix basic things. Learn how to cook, I'm not talking 5 star chef, but at least basic meals and learn how to read a recipe and how to modify from there. Learn patience and different ways to communicate. Learn to speak clearly and project your voice. Learn things that you are interested in and excite you.

Note: I'm not saying you lack any of these skills/attributes. But that I think they are something that the vast majority of people are probably looking for.

Physical attributes: don't change what you look like if you don't want to. I do recommend that you work on good posture, because posture affects so many things. Actually just standing or sitting with good posture makes you look more confident and that can translate to feeling more confident. Slouching or sitting incorrectly can cause health issues.

Thanks, this makes a lot more sense haha

Once again, great advice. :love

One of the things I do love about myself and think is good is that I love learning, whether it be learning something totally new or even just reading the latest info or a new take or something on something I already know. So many people just stop learning or get set in their ways or whatever but I’m always learning. Like for example, I’m always reading articles or watching videos or whatever on dog training and learning something new. Not lately, been focused on other stuff, but sometimes I just come across something. Or like even with the chickens, I’ve had them 4 years but I’m still learning and adapting and changing stuff. I don’t just read one thing and stick with it. And even now I still want to go back to school or get a training certification or something; still wanting to learn/improve.

And the other thing is I’m great at following directions, almost to the point of being obsessive. :lau  so I’m a pretty good cook because of it because I do read and follow the directions. And I like experimenting with cooking or making my own stuff too. I usually don’t even use a recipe.

And because of the direction following, I can usually figure things out eventually too if given enough time. Like I assembled Luna’s cat tree all by myself. I would have assembled my bookcases by myself too but it’s really a two person job holding them together so the glue sets. But with a clamp I probably could have done it.

I do need to work on most of the rest though. I have horrible posture and am constantly hunched over and I really think it’s definitely affecting my health. It’s no wonder my neck and shoulders often hurt and now mid back sometimes. Right where it hunches.

And I definitely don’t speak clearly enough or project my voice at all. I am very quiet and shy and tend to mumble and/or mutter and not annunciate, especially when nervous. And I’ll whisper or talk super quietly. And just general bad habits. People often can’t understand or can’t hear me. I really need to work on that.

I also need to work on my patience and impulse control and stuff haha

I used to be a pretty patient person but am getting much less so. I think I still am for the most part and I would never show the impatience to somebody or be mean but I get frustrated super easily and honestly I think have a bit of an anger issue sometimes.

Seems to be mostly with my family though, kinda tend to blow up sometimes hah

Yet I try not to with other people or with animals, still patient with them, but sometimes less so. Would never blow up at them or anything but just feel myself getting more easily flustered/stressed.

I do think I need to work on that and get it under control for sure.

And I actually read something not too long ago that said that your posture can really impact your mood too, like even depression and anxiety and stuff, and I really believe it. It said hunching over/slouching and stuff can make you feel more depressed and/or anxious and I believe it because I have noticed when I stand up tall I do feel much better and more confident like instantly haha

Need to try to do that all the time.

Yes, my DH stands tall and I think it's his best quality. It makes him look strong and confident. People always ask if he was in the military. He wasn't but his brother died in Afghanistan. DH looked up to him most of his life!

That’s awesome! I need to work on my posture. I have horrible posture.

If you put your phone up you wouldn't be hunched over it all day and you might actually practice talking to people.
