➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Yes, he is! His coat color is brindle.
And he is a big dummy. No, really very smart and protective of his "people". His breed has Mastiff in the background.

That’s awesome!! I don’t know much about that breed but I think I have heard the name before. They’re supposed to be pretty tough to handle, no? At least compared to some of the other mastiffs. Boerbels are too. But nice dogs if you’re friendly with them LOL

Why are they so cute!? :hit :love

The breed needs a firm owner who will train early and be consistent. They must be socialized well to know the difference in friend and foe. And needs lots of activity. Most are used for herding/livestock....so a working breed.
Bear is a great dog....lots of energy and is very obedient...his "mom and pop" are good dog owners.

Oh yeah no I know but I just meant other breeds that actually come in merle might be a bit more ethical. Or they might not be breeding merle to merle. Cause it seems like the Frenchies they’re trying to get as many merles as possible even if it hurts puppies cause it’s a “rare” color or whatever, even if it technically doesn’t exist in the breed, they can make money on it, whereas one that does come in that color or is more common in the breed might be more ethical or easier to find a good breeder. Idk if I’m making any sense haha I’m sure there are unscrupulous breeders and puppy mills and lots of other people just looking to make a quick buck in any breed, sure every breed breeds merle to merle, but I was just thinking if the breed comes in that color then it’s more ethical than some designer dog haha
I don’t think so. Maybe I’m wrong but I’ve met plenty of deaf and/or blind great danes and collies. Making it a standard colour hasn’t helped.
I personally just disagree with breeding the colour in general and wouldn’t support it unless I was adopting.
Does this mean I shouldn't even look for a merle puppy?

Are they all screwed up?
It’s debatable. I think that breeding a dog that carries half of a birth defect gene is kinda messed up.
I’m sure reputable breeders exist, but i can’t wrap my head around why someone would breed them for any reason except money.

@KDOGG331, my dog growing up was a purebred Golden. He lived 16 years.

There are even merle corgis. They are adorable. I personally don't care for that coat variation, though. I also don't like blue eyes on dogs. Creepy looking. Weim pups creep me out too. Not into any of the "blue" colors. I look at them and see skin issues and food sensitivity. Dobies, on the other hand... :love

To each their own. Suppose that's why there are so many freaking breeds out there.
I see the same, but gosh dangit I find them so attractive.
Oh wow that’s awesome!! Maybe I’m imagining but I feel like Goldens used to live a lot longer than they do now. :(

My mom’s golden lived to like 14 I think. This was sometime in the late 90s early 2000s he died.

And yeah, I’m not normally too into merle but it depends because some are gorgeous. Others look like a bit of a mess :lau

I think blue eyes can be pretty but those super light yellow ones are creepy lol and some blue eyes can be.

And :lau true! My biggest thing with Weims though is those creepy af eyes lol

But yes there really are soooo many breeds!!! And I want most of them. :lau
Any breed that explodes in popularity ultimately suffers for it. I’m sure they used to have longer lifespans but they can still go a long while. Triumph is 12 and loving life.
It’s all in the genetics with a healthy portion of luck.

Merle? Or possibly dapple like the dapple Dachund.

My grandson has one similar in breed that is massive. As a puppy Bear filled a shopping cart at PetSmart when they took him to obedience classes.
And yes, he has poop piles like a cow and has his own twin bed.
Here he is at 6 months held by my daughter...a Brazilian Fila...weighs over 200 pounds now.

. Hate what irreputable money hungry breeders do!
He is gorgeous! Oh my gosh I’m such a sucker for giant breeds.
I wanna kiss his flappy cheeks. :love

Done deal. I will stop window shopping.

I do not want another faker size dog but I do not want a big dog either.
What is fakers size? Little like my Jolene? She's like 4 lbs maybe 5 lbs. I love her size, but her maintenance kills me. I have to cut her hair every few weeks, brush her all the time, get her special food (our regular kibble is too big), and she has to wear sweaters when it's cold.
