➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Interesting. Speaking with the neighbor, the teacup poodles are underfed to keep them small. Not malnourished, but starved? She fed hers and they are toy poodle size. With health issues...

The 70 lb Borzoi are living room art. Great big, huge couch potatoes. Jake was 110 lbs at his largest. Bigger end of the breed.

This leads us to temperament. Borzoi are chill. Some of the working dogs go bonkers being kept inside. The rescue we have does the nervous chew when inside. Shoes, toys, furniture and whatever she finds. Outside she chews sticks into splinters, dog toys to fluff and shreds their bedding. People fall in love with looks. Don't research temperament and fail in training. Or worse, they get bored and dump them. It's not an animal problem, it's a people problem.

Weighed Pomme Tom and Witch Hazel this morning
And they have really put on the weight this month! They are only 6.5 months old!
Hazel is now10.4 up 3 pounds and Tom is now 12.2 up 3.4 pounds....wondering how much more they are going to grow!?

When I went to go visit my aunt and "uncle", I wanted to take a picture with their Chow. It was an abused dog to begin with and was very shy towards people, I think I was the only person that dog ever paid attention to. It wanted me to pet it and everything, they kept cautioning me that the dog would bite me or whatnot

The dog wasn't cooperating for pictures so my "uncle" decided that he would beat it in front of me. Let me tell you I have not talked to him since and that was 14 years ago. I got into his face and everything over it, I would have rather him hit me than that dog.

I honestly wouldn't have cared if he beat the living bleep out of me for defending the dog.

Let's just say that morning my "uncle" was drinking beer and it was 9 am :hmm he was fully intoxicated by the time it happened. The dog got re-homed shortly after that event.

My grandfather had a dog when I was about 7 years old that had a broken nose and the person that was in charge to watch that dog while my grandfather was gone was my "uncle." I'm assuming that he broke my grandfather's dog's nose being aggressive with it :rantMy grandfather never trusted that man and I never will either!

Some people are just not meant to have any animals in their life.

Have decided to move out the ducks! They will be hard to maintain during the remodel since they free range everywhere including the bar ditch in the front yard.

Found a butcher near us who processes ducks and chickens.

The Columbian Wyandotte chickens will go thru the final cull for breeders this week and then move the culls to freezer camp.

Still working on planting dormant plants (ferns, hibiscus, peony) and setting out the final order of bulbs.

Hubby has two more Doctor apps this week so will finally get to the task of boxing up all the kitchen and bathroom "stuff" for the remodel.
We will move into the rent house during the remodel...just next door...1/4 mile from home...so moving the living room and most of den furniture as well as our bed and dresser.

The remodel will be more extensive than just those two areas....kitchen and bath.

We will be:
- Ripping out the carpet in living room, hallway, kitchen, den and big bathroom.
- Sanding and refinishing the oak floors if there are no stains...we had carpet installed before we moved in so don't know what was under the carpet before.
- Removing the popcorn flocking on all ceilings...may do the bedrooms later since I will put locks on those rooms so we don't have to move out all the furniture in the house.
- Repairs to living room ceiling and one wall due to earthquake damage. Have a structural engineer checking for any foundation damage...we have a crawl space under the house.
- redo on the living room fireplace.
- Install tile floors in both baths, the laundry room, den, and part of the kitchen. Two/thirds of the kitchen is oak floor. (Due to a weird redo before we moved here)
- upgrade in electrical and lighting.
- Demo will be a full gut in the kitchen except for my dishwasher. Going with stainless steel appliances and a full stove. Building in a corner pantry...hate lazy Susans.
- Big bath will be close to that....Reusing some of the old tile which means I'll be cleaning off grout before reuse, but adding a full shower and a soaking tub, new vanity and linen storage...keeping the toilet where it is.
- 1/2 bath will get a new vanity and new wall covering...hate the Formica 1/2 wall.
- Back door entry will get a "mud room" redo with storage and a bench.
- Den will get some electrical upgrades, hubby wants to keep the wood paneling in there, so new flooring...wood like tile to blend.

This is going to take several months...we will do most of the demo ourselves and the painting but will hire out the refinishing carpentry, electrical, plumbing and installation of floors and cabinets.

This is going to be so fun to follow.

Let's get the party started.
