I'm the type of parent that will just be happy if my boys grow up to be perfect gentlemen. I don't care about what their career is or where they graduated from school... All of that to me makes no difference in the world if you are not a good person.

I do expect them to have jobs at 16 to pay for their own gas, cell phone, and vehicle maintenance. I expect them to get no less than a C in any class and honestly I expect no less than a B from my oldest. His only job right now is to pass his freshman year in high school and I hope that is with high honors.

My brother went on to be a chemical engineer and is the vice president of a company. I am a housewife... My parents love us just the same. They may love me a bit more

No matter what people want to think it's not going to be easy all the time and it wont be all peachy. To feed that is setting one up for a disaster when real life hits. It is what it is. To each their own if she thinks its always gonna be dandelions and bunny rabbits well..........okay

you hit the nail on the head turk. What I meant was life skills will ready someone for the simple and the harder things in life TO COPE with what life brings. If she can't handle a simple dog nip what about when something serious happens.

I don't think a college degree prepares you to handle a dog bite, I'm lost. I'll come back when this thread changes it's focus.

Yes! I need a change of topic this thread has really made me feel bad for her and truly to almost the point of tears. I relate to her so much from when I was younger. She was just talking about feeling in a funk like being depressed... So I don't get why it's okay to keep ragging on her when she's expressed this. It just leaves an unsettled feeling in my stomach.
