➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Oh thank goodness!!! This makes me feel so much better because I think @BantyChooks had said that hers were super friendly and sat in her lap and stuff so it made me nervous to get them because I know I would get attached if they were lap chickens haha

I don’t like the health problems though and I know it can be minimized or eliminated by different management techniques but I still think if I did them I’d go with the rangers.

Holy mackerel that thing is gorgeous. :th

:lau maybe?

The red eyes do somewhat creep me out but they’re still fuzz balls and adorablely cute and I still couldn’t I don’t think :lau
Mine were angels. If they weren't so fat I'd have kept them as pets.

I got 10 females and 2 males. Just to start off to get used to them. Then I got 3 sample sizes for Groot. Whatever he likes best, I'll order more.

We don't have an exotic vet. I get all my info from people like the Petco manager who has had them all his life. I guess technically I have had them half my life. I think he actually went to college for something science related and was working at Petco to pay for it. He fell in love with that Petco store and graduated but stayed with Petco.

I can't believe he's the store manager. That's pretty huge especially since he started out as just a floor sweeper and tank cleaner.

That is awesome!! All of it!! :love

When I first started dating my husband, my bearded dragon I had for a long time passed away. I cried so hard... He didn't get it

When we started getting closer and got married, we got Gamora (Bob). He's so obsessed with it and NOW he gets it.

They're like a dog. Some people hate my lizards and will say that to me, but my friends truly want to know more about them whether it's behind the glass or out of the tank.

My mom said to me "Why would you buy a diseased animal?" And I told her "I'm diseased too, does that mean I'm not worthy of love?" She had a change of heart when I said it.

Groot has had a rough life with yellow fungus and this caring person saved him. I want him to grow big and strong so that one day I can show the Petco employees how gorgeous he is.

Honestly, most pet stores euthanize lizards that are in that circumstance.

Yesterday was the first time in 2 years that I shopped at that Petco besides when I got Groot. It's all because of that store manager.

Awwww that’s awesome!!!

I'd never hide my animals. I do have to put my pit mix away sometimes because she's overly protective of me. She will get between me and the person she doesn't know and try to put fear into them. She's a sweet dog though if you know her.

My puggle is all mouth and loves to talk. She barks at CVS pharmacy and the bank for cookies  they know her well at both places.

Jolene just licks and loves everyone.

Lucy she's a beagle and all beagles know is love.

Jack hides and only comes out of it's just people who live here that are here.

Gamora is right in the livingroom and Groot is in our bedroom.

:lau yeah, I don’t really usually hide them but we also don’t really have visitors haha but if somebody was really scared or allergic or something, I totally get that.

Gator was very protective so sometimes we’d put him away, at least at first. He mostly just put on a big show and likely wouldn’t actually do anything but he scared people haha he’d bark like crazy/go ballistic at the window and we have a big bay window in the front room and the walkway a lot lower than the house there so he looked even bigger than he was when he stood up in the window and he was already huge enough. :lau terrified several delivery people. :lau

But it was all a show and once the person got inside, he was totally fine!! So usually we didn’t put him away, especially if he knew the people cause he didn’t do it then, and he really actually mostly saved the ballistics for delivery people and a few select people lol, but even barking he’s intimidating and then once you got in, he’s overly friendly :lau so we would sometimes put him in the other room just for the person to get in the house and then let him out or we’d keep him put away till they went downstairs or whatever. But if you ignored him, he usually ignored you, so most people just did that if they were a little unsure about him haha

And future dogs I’d probably train to do that or to go lay down so they wouldn’t have to be put away but I don’t mind aha

Just hanging with Groot this morning

So cute!! I love him!!

:lau hilariously adorable!!! :love

I can't stand when people do stuff like that.

Everyone loves Groot so far. He's fitting right in quite nicely. Even the dogs and cat like him.

Awww that’s so cool! Do they like Bob too?

I have to cut Jolenes hair today. She looks like a purple minion

OMG :love

Gamora just hanging out staring at the dogs

Size difference compared to Groot. He would be a snack to her. She just ate so she's all plump

She’s huge!! Lol hopefully he’ll grow soon enough!!

Have any of you guys seen Guardians of the Glades?

My new favorite show

Don’t think I’ve heard of it before.

My current rabbit was a little devil for the first four years. If she were human, she would've been jailed or placed in a mental institution.

:lau :gig :lau

Mine were angels. If they weren't so fat I'd have kept them as pets.

See? That’s what I’m afraid of. :lau

But maybe if they get fat enough I won’t feel as bad about it knowing it’d be cruel to keep them alive haha

They catch pythons in the Everglades that escaped when hurricane Andrew came through. They caught a 13 foot one :eek:They actually will pay you to catch them because they're an invasive species. $50 per foot for the first 4 feet then $25 for every foot after that.

They have a beagle that hunts the pythons, that's what interested me the most about it. I told my beagle Lucy that we are going to do it:gig

OMG that is amazing!!!

The chicks have grown so much even just from like a week and a half ago :hit

Brooder was a bit of a disaster but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

Shavings everywhere, all over the house, and some high and low spots in the brooder from where they’ve kicked/dug around, and of course they get the food and water filthy insanely fast because of their antics, but honestly besides that it’s not that bad. :lau

They definitely need to go outside though. :lau

Before.

And some cute chick pics after I refilled everything. Or as best as I could do. They wouldn’t hold still. :lau

Oh my my my....my my my.
Boys!

They're quite awesome people. One walks around barefoot in the swamp... he's crazy but so amazing to watch!

OMG that’s insane!! LOL

Oh my my my....my my my.
Boys!

Yup!!! :hit

I’ve suspected those 3 from day 1 though lol so not hugely surprising. :lau

But I was surprised how red they got in just over a week lol

There’s at least one or two more I suspect too but we’ll see.

With my luck they’ll all be boys. :hit

I'm glad she has to clean it, not us :lau

:lau :gig :lau

It’s gonna be a lot of work. I haven’t emptied the original brooder yet either and the shavings stick to feet, clothing, shoes, etc. and track all over the house so they are everywhere. :th

Just a reminder, this is the last day to get your nominations in for this quarter. There must be someone you know here that you feel deserves a BYC Award/Badge!! :)
