Basically pulmonary hypertension makes your arteries constrict so that it's hard for the blood flow and oxygen to go through and it enlarges the right side of your heart because of the pressure... This medication opens up the arteries and dilates them to allow the oxygen and blood to flow through a little bit easier.

I never take my pump off for a few minutes, you are not supposed to.

I always have eight days of medication made.

I've been on it for almost 10 years now and there is no cure for idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension so I am stuck on this medication for the rest of my life.

I have a permanent IV line in my chest The only time they replace it is if it breaks. It's called a Hickman line.

If it breaks while I'm at home I have to call the ambulance and tell them to put an IV in my arm. Then the meds blow my veins so they always have a backup IV ready to go. It's only happened a few times in 9 years. The Hickman is in an artery.

I am watching the AKC National Championship on Animal Planet. I am like... oooh I like this breed! Oooh I like that breed! Oh what a beautiful dog! Such a pretty coat! I’m like that with just about every dog.

I didn’t ever watch the original Star Trek, with William Shatner as Captain Kirk. I grew up watching Star Trek the Next Generation. It’s captain was Captain Jean Luc Picard. So the throw back to the name and their sense of humor in using it is why it amuses me so.

Is this what they call a port?

A port is one where they stick the needle through your skin to access the port.

Mine is like a silicone tube that is tunneled into my artery and goes into my heart and then comes out about two feet from my chest.
