➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Huh. Not really sure...DH does all the roach care here. But once they are settled he says we get very little die off, so delayed effects of shipping stress seems like a likely culprit. Do you still have some males left?!
Yeah, they sent me 8 males. I thought it was only 4.

I ordered 10 females and 2 males, but I got way more than that.

I found 2 males dead and a female died too. I still have plenty though. I got the heat pad turned on.

I gave them a handful of roach feed and a spoonful of that jelly water stuff.

I am sure it is just shipping stress. Afterall, that is why the company ships extras. They are pretty sensitive to temps below say 70 degrees. They should stabilize soon.

Do dead bugs mean Gamora gets a feast?

Yes! She's eaten all the dead ones and they're full grown adults. She loves them. Groot likes the little ones.

How long does it take them to start breeding?

Heehee lucky little Gamora is having a great week!

If your temps are high enough (85 degrees at least) they should start breeding right away. But it takes two months for the new nymphs to develop and hatch.

:yuckyuck

You have to be careful with what feeder bugs eat because it all passes directly on to the reptile. For example, tomato hornworms are a popular feeder but...but tomato plants are highly toxic to reptiles. So the worms have to be raised on something else if you want to use them as food for your pet. Commercial feeds are also designed to pack the bugs full of extra nutrients that will benefit your reptile.
