➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Are you keeping them all regardless of sex?
Sorry, no roosters allowed. Been going to first crow. These are meat birds, although I'm considering keeping one for a layer. Yellow has a chance. Will displace a layer though.

I've got the 13 Barnyard Surprises going strong and laying eggs. Just sent 10.5 dozen eggs north. I mean, 23 layers isn't too many, is it?

:lau :lau :lau

I haven’t heard them yet but my dad said he heard one crowing the other day and one trying to crow lol
The barred I want to keep so bad. It runs up to me so excited and wants me to pet it. I don't want another cockerel though if that's what it is. I swear we barely had any cockerels last hatch. Maybe 3 out of 29 chicks.

I have 42 barnyard surprise eggs in the bator. I keep hoping I'll get some amazing ones that will be eye candy.

So many people don't like barnyard mixes I've notice on here. Most want a purebred, but in my opinion I think barnyard mixes really are amazing and usually can't be duplicated. They don't look like any other chickens. I'd rather have a one of a kind chicken than one that everyone has.

The 2019 Barnyard Surprise meat hatch had 10 cockerels and 13 pullets. All the white ones were cockerels. Kiki strikes again.

🍻 Her and her yellow chicks. Go figure.

I think I only wound up with like 2, maybe 3, girls out of 9 chicks. :hit

Some of them are crowing already too lol and I think started a little while ago but I thought I was going crazy and hearing things 😂

My dad confirmed it the other day though haha
Pics?

I'm sure the mystery eggs I got from our rooster lover friend are all cockerels because he wants all the cockerels 😂 It's a great friend to have when you don't want anymore cockerels unless for meat.

F1 hybrid generations usually are pretty much the same. It is when you start breeding the F1 hybrids to each other that you start getting lots of variety.
